recruiting a 'good' point guard at this point is easier said than done. we're not going to get a highly coveted point to commit to us at this point, because artis is just a freshmen. that's college basketball recruiting for you.

But at the same time, he probably expected to have Bruce Barron on the team at this point.
I'm looking at the recruits they signed for next year and only Jordan Bell and Abdul-Bassit seem to have any offers from other D1 schools. That right there shows Altman is taking some risks with players that aren't really being recruited by other schools that heavily, especially those from major conferences and top mid-majors.
The thing with recruiting is that you are trying to find talent, sometimes talent is only found by a few. I am sure they don't do there recruiting by who is being offered. So that doesn't necessarily mean Altman is taking risks. But he very well could be, but the fact is every recruit has risks.

There are always defections and people not fitting at a certain school and buried at in depth chart for various reasons. Oregon's depth chart might look better. They don't need to be highly coveted/telented with Altman just be at least a scoring threat and know how to keep an offense moving.

Is it just me or is there a twinge of sour grapes in his voice. Maybe he is just frustrated because he thinks he can do better.

washburn throws an elbow at loyd's face and the official standing four feet away does nothing; the official halfway across the court has to make the call.

i don't complain about the officiating if we lose. i really hope we win this one. more than a few gripes so far...

And he really hasn't recruited players that are adept at scoring really. There isn't a pure shooter or one that can consistently score on their own.

Adam Jude ‏@A_Jude
Loyd holding his right elbow and grimacing after hitting the deck hard on that fastbreak. Tough no-call.

Todd Miles ‏@MilesUO
Loyd on the bench in the timeout looking like Rocky late in the Apollo Creed fight. Return, iffy from the look of it. #GoDucks

Adam Jude ‏@A_Jude
Replay confirms an elbow right to Loyd's face. He's now being escorted by a trainer to the locker room, towel over his face.

we'll see if lapray can be that guy. having seen him play a few times at sprague, the only way he's going to help us is by rocking the long ball. people keep throwing out ej singler comparisons, but the two are nothing alike. lapray doesn't have the size or body of ej. kid is a straight gunner.
