Re: Cristiano Felicio
How come he isn't listed as a commit, and why haven't we really heard anything about him?

Re: Cristiano Felicio
Steve Summers on Educk said that there are several reasons why and that he could face some NCAA clearinghouse problems when trying to enroll at Oregon since the school he's attending may not have proper accreditation.duckgrad99 wrote:How come he isn't listed as a commit, and why haven't we really heard anything about him?
http://www.registerguard.com/web/sports ... s.html.cspthe reason why Felicio is not on the commit list is because the software require a high school entry. So when Scout went to enter Felicio's high school, the only thing that could be found was CCSE, which is the subject of a Sacramento Police investigation (the one Bob Clark talked about in his story).
As of yet, nothing has been resolved regarding CCSE and nothing is known about where Felicio is going to high school or how he will qualify for enrollment.
He he obviously signed a letter of intent but now it will be a matter of him passing the NCAA clearinghouse in order for him to be eligible to play.
Unfortunately, until there is some sort of high school, Scout's software won't allow Felicio to be on Oregon's commitment list.

Re: Cristiano Felicio
I hope he somehow makes it to Oregon, although it sounds like there is a good chance it won't happen. I forgot where I read it, but he was compared to Nene Hilario in the NBA.

That comp was probably made because he's a Brazilian big.

Re: Cristiano Felicio
With all due respect to Steve Summers, he has about as much sources inside the basketball program as I do. Say what you will about Mops, but what he has said is that Felicio had already graduated before all the abuse issues came out at his HS in Brazil, so the problems here in America shouldn't keep him out. Right now it appears all he has to do is pass the SAT and he should be in.
Also NBAdraft.com compared him to Nene this last summer when he committed to UO.

If Feliciano can develop into half the player Nene is, it is probably going to pay off.

Brazilian big man Cristiano Felicio was one of the most interesting prospects to emerge at this tournament. He led the tournament in field goal percentage, at 76%, and was one of the best offensive rebounders on a per-minute basis. He has come a long way since we saw him last summer at the U-18 FIBA Americas Championships in San Antonio.
Physically, Felicio draws comparisons to fellow Brazilian big man Nene. At around 6-9, with an outstanding frame, long arms and very nice athleticism, he stands out immediately with his rare physical attributes. He is a pretty raw player overall, but he showed flashes of potential in a variety of areas, including in the post and in transition. He even knocked down a 17-foot jumper at one point.

Yeah, he came to America to showcase his game and to improve his english. He didn't need to pass HS at the prep school to get into Oregon.buckmarkduck wrote:With all due respect to Steve Summers, he has about as much sources inside the basketball program as I do.
