That is an amazing stat! You would think his stats would be better with that kind of time in the pocket.ArkansasDuck wrote:Read an interesting stat...Marcus Mariota has been pressured 6 times this season in 3 games. Russell Wilson has been pressured 44 times. The Titans have put him in a better position to succeed than I ever thought they could when they drafted him. He's been getting a lot of love throughout the league for his play, toughness and leadership.
This is why some NFL types and fans still think he's not a good QB. Anybody who's watched all 3 games would understand he's done exactly what's been asked of him in the offense. With the Texans game coming up this week, it will mean that the last 3 games have all been against teams with a great defensive roster and the gameplan has been to run the ball and throw more sparingly. Jonnu Smith however looks to be Delanie Walker 2.0, Taywan Taylor looks better than Kendall Wright ever did and Corey Davis while injured, has looked to be a true #1 when on the field in his limited action. As the season goes on those numbers are going to get a lot better for him as a passer but he's still not going to look like Drew Brees.duckduckgoose wrote:That is an amazing stat! That's exactly right. Personally I love the way they've brought Marcus along. They're not putting the entire offense on his shoulders and allowing him to learn the game, learn NFL defenses and gain confidence...not many teams that draft QB's high are able to do that. It's obvious what their identity is, they are a physical, smashmouth style of an offense BUT with plenty of play action and QB runs...it's really fun to watch and really unlike anything else in the NFL currently. Marcus has the best line in the entire NFL, which is great considering he had the worst his rookie year. There's not a better blocking team on offense, from RB's to WR's/TE's to OL they pride themselves on being able to block. Goes to show how good of a GM Robinson is. They laid out their "exotic smashmouth" vision last year and the players bought in and it's obvious they're enjoying it. As Marcus grows, and as Davis grows, he will start putting up the stats...he's a very good QB but still has a lot to learn but he's in about the best spot he could be when it comes to protection and supporting cast. The future is bright in Tennessee, and Mariota will be a household name in a year or two I guarantee it. By the way, I absolutely love watching Derrick Henry in the backfield with Mariota. One play Mariota will keep it and run right by a linebacker, the next play he will give it to Henry and he will run right OVER a linebacker. It's really amazing to watch.Duck07 wrote:This is why some NFL types and fans still think he's not a good QB. The bigger thing here in that number is how Tennessee has done a better job of finding first round talent on the OL. If you go look over the names of 1st round Tackles, Lewan, Conklin and Tyron Smith are about the only young ones you can find who have panned out with a high percentage of busts or guys that had to move inside to Guard to be serviceable. In Preseason it was abundantly clear that the pass blocking of the OL was world's better than last season and through 3 games it wasn't a joke.
