91 Small Forwards

Post by Zyme »

Top 5 Small Forwards:

Stacey Augman B- C- C C+ C A

The second man of the trio that won the national championship for the Running Rebels. He was the engine behind the comeback against Dik and Georgetown in the second round and was second in his team in scoring. Has a decent jumper, but when he gets tired the shot flattens out. Good defensive option, he has very quick hands, and does a good job staying with his man. Scouts wonder if he is as good as he looked in college, or if being next to LJ opened up space for him.

Billy Owens C+ C C+ C+ C+ B

Versitility is the name of the game with Owens. He has the skills to be a SG, with the body of a PF. With his partner in crime Ellis, the Orangemen faught their way to the 3rd round of the tourney. At the PF position, he blows by his opposition from the high post and from the SG position he goes down low and exploits his superior strength. He may not have a set position, but his ability at 3 positions will ensure him a roster spot for years to come.

Richard Dumas B B- C- C- C- B

Another American who spent time abroad in Isreal. He was the engine that powered Tel Aviv past Stanley Roberts in the first round of the euroleague playoff, eventually ending with a euroleague title. Scouts drooled when he announced his return to America with a vow he was going to take the association by storm. With his inside ability with a very well developed outside game, he very well might. He has the confidence to take the ball at anyone, anytime, even much taller or stronger players seemingly because it was a challenge. He has a swagger that borders on Cocky, but he might just have the potential and skills to live up to home much he think of himself.

John Turner C+ D D- C+ C+ B

Small school kid out of Philips University in Oklahoma. He is your prototypical cornerman. He walked over the competition he faced, making many a man look foolish as he backed down and stuffed it home. He has a very mature and patient post defense, performed very well at the combine against even the likes of LJ. He has an unlimited motor on the boards, and relishes boxing out much bigger players. Scouts liked what they saw at the combine but his offense against the better completion underwhelmed. Even still he is a gym rat and has thrived at ever level.

Rick Fox C+ C+ C- C+ C A

Very mature small forward out of North Carolina. He is extremely charismatic and blew away teams during the interview portion of the combine. He's got a coy demeanor and loves to lull his opponents into a false sense of security. When his opponent tried to take advantage or dropped their guard, the ball was suddenly out of their hands and Fox rocketing down the court for a highlight jam. Quick hands and positions himself very well defensively. Scouts love his frame at 6' 7" and if he can put on some muscle, he could develop very well.

Other Small Forward prospects:

Keith Owens C+ C- C- C C+ B

Cornerman with great potential. Very good at fighting for putbacks. Tested out the most bench reps of the SF class. No relation to Billy.

Corey Crowder B C+ D+ C C B

Very polished scoring game. Huge bag of tricks with a good mid-range game to keep his opponents honest. Walked away with his league MVP at Kentucky Westleyan with 32 ppg, but scouts worry that his lack of exposure to good competition may have let to a skillet tailored to exploit poor defenders, not NBA level stoppers.

Tony Farmer C+ C- D C+ C+ C

May look like a cornerman, but more of a true forward and plays wither forward position equally well and not stuck in between.

Lorenzo Williams C+ C C C C+ A

Called "The Brick" by fans. Good back of tricks to finish at the basket, his free-throw form earned him a nickname.
