94 Point Guards

Top 5 Point Guard Prospects:

Jalen Rose C+ C+ C+ C+ C A

One of the member of what the Ann Arbor press is calling the imfamous five. The combo guard seemed to be the least tainted, but still was reported to have been involved in one of the schemes, leading to his dismissal. He is very strong on-ball defender and can play both of the guard positions with ease. He has a great stroke and has very pesky hands. Scouts love his upside.

Penny Hardaway C+ B- C B- C B

Many were surprised that Anfernee "penny" Hardaway stuck around for his senior season at Memphis State, but he put all those doubters to be early. He dominated the conference, walking away with an All-American spot and a final four appearance. He is a very tough slashing guard that knows how to get the ball into the hoop. Couple this with his solid outside game, he was very difficult to guard at the college level. While he has a very solid all-around game, if asked in an interview, it that he feels he tries too hard opting to rarely delegate. Scouts wonder if him staying at a level of ball he was clearly better than may have hurt his development slightly, but still agree he should have enough left in the tank to be a very solid pro.

Charlie Ward C+ D+ B C D- A

As Bowden would say, "with Chali Waad at qauta bak," your offense is in very safe hands. While he may be best described as a game manager, when he's asked to make a play he begrudgingly does. He seems to always get the credit for the great team that is placed around him, but he accepts the plaudits all the same. He rarely fumbles, but when he does throw the occasional pick it is becuase he actually tried to make the spectacular play when the wide open short option was right there.

BJ Tyler C C+ C+ B+ C- C

Has a very crisp style of play that makes him a pain to play against. He has a solid outside game, but what will really make him is how cool of customer he is on defense. Nothing rattles him. He has great footwork and his speed down the court is outstanding. One thing that scouts really rated him down for was how frosty he was in interview. His icy demeanor, plus a rumored diagnosis of narcolepsy may lead to his draft stock to slide.

Melvin Booker C+ C+ C+ C C- A

The Missouri Tiger Point guard is maybe the most developmental of the group of top point guards. He has a good enough finishing set, but could really use work in the wight room to help him in a post up game when as he cannot always get that first step to get past his defender. Very good with the ball, should not have many turnover problems as the next level. Immense upside, but may patience on the part of his drafting club.

Other PG Prospects:

Trevor Ruffin C B C+ C+ C- B

Ryan Lorthridge C+ C- C+ C+ C- A

Derrick Phelps C+ D C C+ C+ A
