Congrats to Mark Helfrich!

With Stanford losing, Helfrich now has the best conference record of active Pac-12 coaches.

We are lucky to have him! Thanks to Chip for lobbying for his hiring.

He is our own Mike Riley++

Questioned him early (OC with Kelly v. Boise St.); I believe in his ceiling.

Loved how he and the other coaches learned from the Arizona game and used that to improve. He was being questioned after the Arizona game and rightfully so, but there is a lot more confidence in him and DP now and they deserve to be recognized along with Frost.

Whatever he and the other coaches said, it's working. It sounds like the guys didn't practice as hard as they needed the 3-4 weeks after MSU. But since then they have been back to working very hard.

I'd also like to point out all the guys playing, who are Helfs recruits, he and his staff have gotten after it on the recruiting trail and have gotten OKG. Weird stat after yesterday's win, Oregon leads all of D1 in TDs from FR, with 18.

Really? Let's see Royce, Allen, Brown, Addison, Carrington, Marshall, Johnstone, Hunt, Stanford, Tyner, Jake P, . That's just on O. But any Qb who has that much returning talent around him, just has to not lose games.

On D Ifo and Hill will be big loses, and if Armstead thinks he's ready for the NFL, that would be a big loss. But our LB should be much improved, I honestly don't see the d be any worse next year.

Nope. He's a junior.

We have a ton coming back next year. The starting Qb has to effectively just be a PG. No one will be asking him to win games, just get the ball to your talented teammates, and allow them to do their thing. Btw next years WR core is going to be sick, maybe the best ever at UO. Alex O and Lovette (a faster Marshall IMO), are both studs who will only make our depth better.

I worry about our cornerback spots.... doesn't seem to be much in the cupboard behind Ifo and Hill.

That said, I know we have some talented young guys, and a solid round of spring/fall camps (and summer workouts) can make a world of difference... but I'll always have flashbacks to those one or two years after Harrington graduated, when we also lost Rashaad Bauman and Steve Smith...

If we can replace our corners though, then I'm excited about our D. It's been one of the better units in the Pac-12 over the past two games, if not the best.
