1997 Centers

Post by Brophdog88 »

Mark Blount C 7'0'' 235 21 C C D- B C A
ALL defense, all the time. And really, ALL POST DEFENSE All the time. He doesnt do much else really, great positioning defensively, with a solid FT shot, but rebounding, strength, athleticism, offense, all these things are lacking. Showed flashes of greatness at Pittsburgh.....but mostly as a defensive player.

Miki Moore C 6'11'' 235 21 C+ C C- C+ C+ A
Moore is a superb jump shooter, with solid strength and a fair bit of rebounding acumen. HOwever, his game overall is still quite raw, with a lot of room to grow, but also a lot of work to be done to get there, and that is a question mark to scouts, is he willing to put forth that effort. A gamble pick here.

Adonal Foyle PF 6'10'' 250 22 C D+ C- C+ C+ A
Foyle is listed at PF, but should be a Center in reality, (ok, Zyme listed him as a Center to me, so he goes here. D rating is still C+ at Center.)
Foyle is a Defensive big, especially on the post defensive area. He is strong enough to handle most bigs on the block, and knows how to make up for his lack of lateral quickness most of the time, though fouls were occasionally a problem. Rebounding wise, shows a knack for putbacks, struggles with his quickness though on the defensive end, and really struggles with his offensive game. Not a great shotblocker, just ok, his lack of lateral quickness hurts him pretty good here.

Kelvin Cato C 6'11'' 255 23 C+ C- D+ C+ B- B
Cato is all about the blocks. He doesnt provide much else in the way of defense, or offense, but he is strong, displays excellent blocking, and solid rebounding...things any team can use. Not going to be an all-star, but a very useful player long term, either off the bench, or maybe as a starter.

Mark Jackson C 6'10'' 270 22 B- C+ C- C C+ C
Watching Mark Jackson play reminds a lot of people of the style of play Kevin Duckworth used to offer, except Jackson has a bit more range to his game, but isn't as overwhelming in size. Good finisher, great strength, takes good care of the ball, with solid rebounding. NO defense to speak of, which is sad, because he moves well laterally...actually, some scouts think he looks more comfortable defending on the perimeter than in the post...although still he looks quite uncomfortable.
