Top 5 2000 Centers:

Yao Ming B+ C D+ B+ B- C

Remember that best Chinese player to ever come to the NBA a year or two ago, ya me neither. Given the history of asian players being about as long as my pinky nail, it might be understandable that Yao might be a bit of an unknown. Let me just say this plain. Yao is probably the most complete center to come into the league since The Admiral. While Shaq could score, his other aspects took some time to get there, Yao will be a force from day one of training camp. His post fade is the best the league has seen since the Mail-Man and his positional defending is top shelf. If he had a weakness is that he brings the ball down when he catches in the post and that his knees do have to support a ton of weight given his size. He may be playing a tad closer to his potential than many scouts think, but that should not take away just how complete he is coming in.

Jamaal Magloire B- C- D- B- C+ B

The great white hope of Canada hails from Toronto is one quickest players for his size you will ever meet. He was one of the best players in college last year and led the Wildcats to a final four. He is immune to any screen that he faces and his defense is easily one of the best in college basketball this season. On offense he is a high flier with a solid set of post moves when he gets back to the basket. He has great footwork on the board and the competition between he and the Vanilla Gorilla was one of the highlights of the combine.

Joel Przybilla C D+ D- B C+ A

The bigman out of Minnesota was a force on the defensive end for the Golden Gofers. While it did not lead to a conference title, it did do enough for him to get him the NABC Defensive Player of the Year award, first team defensive team and second team all-american (behind Magloire). His footwork on the boards is excellent and he has more than enough strength to avoid being bullied down on the block. He plays straight up and has excellent timing on putting shots back in the attacker's face. If he were to have a weakness it would be that he never really developed more than a weak offensive game. He may struggle to reach a double double, but has the skills on the defensive side of the ball to be a force for years to come. He is absoutly oozing with potential and many have drawn comparisons to a young Elmore Spencer.

Chris Mhim C C- D- C+ C+ A

When you talk about a tough big-12 centers you would see Mhim as the poster child. For a bigman he has a great stroke at the line and has more than enough strength to make his own way down on the post. While not the best footwork on the board he has solid fundamentals with plenty of room to improve. Adiquate timing when looking to defend the shot he is deceptively decent at stripping the ball when defending down low. His main issue is he is rather immobile and rarely gets off of his feet when on offense or defense. Solid skillset with plent of drive to become the best player he can be.

Jake Voshkul C+ D+ F+ B- C+ B

The anchor of the Sweet 16 squad of the UConn huskies. Very good at defending down low and is extremely proficient at sending the ball back into row Z. He is a well rounded player that knows his business and how to get is done. The main place where he lets himself down is at the line where he really struggles. This is offset by the fact that he acts more as a screen man on defense (a role where he excels).

Other 2000 C prospects:

Etan Thomas C+ D D- C C+ A

The Orangeman anchored a elite eight run this last tourney. He is very strong and takes very good care of the ball. Great footwork and top shelf potential, more of a developmental prospect.

Guy Rucker C D+ D+ B C+ B

The early entrant out of Iowa is one of the best efensive specialists of the class. He is excellent defending in the post but struggles when he is pulled out and away from the basket. Solid but not exceptional potential.

Dalibor Bagaric C D D- B C+ A

The bigman from West Germany comes from a mixed family of Yugo and German parentage. He was not good enough to make the excellent Yugoslavian side but he has started to make his mark in the German system and is predicted to start next to Dirk in the upcoming Athens Games. Good at blocking and solid at moving off of screens. Scouts liked what they saw out in camp but his performance in FIBA are not amazing. If he is anything more than a flash in the pan he should be solid.

Mamadou N'diaye C C+ C+ C+ C A

Super athletic man of the steady trickle of West African players making the trek from Futbol over to the basketball. His shot looks like missile coming off and cant ever seem to hit the midrange shot but by the time he backs up to the 3pt line it becomes a sniper shot. He comes from a Footballing past as a defender but only recently made the transition to basketball and has yet to iron out the proper footwork. Given he has been playing for such a short time also means that you will b hard pressed to find a player with more potential.

Jaquay Walls C+ C- F+ C+ C+ B

Well rounded small-school prospect out of small-school system of Guilford College. Excellent motor on the offensive boards and he is very strong. Average Potential

Corey Hightower C+ C- D B- C+ B

The post-man out of the directional school of Eastern Michigan. Very good set of rebounding footwork and also very skilled at ripping the ball free in the post. Probably playing rather near his peak.
