kenyon yovan, from westview, was a projected top 200 pick but we're up to #257 (9th round) and haven't seen him come off the board yet. may not mean anything, but i'd love to have him.

we are now into round 16 and i haven't seen any duck recruits (or current ducks, aside from the three taken much earlier) pop up on the mlb draft tracker.

the UO doesn't unveil a complete list until the fall, though, so we don't know every recruit.

i missed the brady whalen pick in the 12th. good eye.

my knee-jerk, uninformed opinion:

all of our drafted ducks are gone. obviously krook, irvin, and nogo were never coming back, but i wouldn't expect karaviotis (19th round) or grebeck (21st) back, either. neither are likely to suddenly develop power or really provide scouts with anything not already captured on years worth of film. we need a talent infusion in this program so i'd love to be wrong and i'd certainly welcome both back... but honestly, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense for either to do so.

you have to imagine whalen will sign.

but other than that... we have a great shot of getting most of this class into school, which is awesome. kenyon yovan going from a projected top 200 pick to falling to the 32nd round is great for our chances. you have to think he told major league clubs that he wants to go to school, hence the freefall down the draft. he's a talent that could immediately jump into our weekend rotation. peterson/yovan/mercer doesn't sound half bad, really, and suddenly makes next season a little more interesting. he's a big kid with a power arm. fastball sits in the mid-90s. committed to us as a sophomore from westview high. i think he had a 0.79 ERA this past spring, and was oregon's HS pitcher of the year as well as the #1 prospect from the state. he's also a monster at the plate.

anything can happen but all told this draft did not go horribly for us. we knew well in advance we'd be losing our pitching trio, and karaviotis isn't a big loss since he missed all of 2016 anyway. i like grebeck, but he's not irreplaceable. let's get some talented freshmen into the mix, hope last year's freshmen class improves, and get the program back on track.

We (plus I bet the coaching staff) all knew the starting pitchers and our closer were likely going to be drafted and be gone since that's how college baseball works. Oregon seems to recruit a lot of pitchers because they know they'll have multiple pitchers drafted, injured or transfer so I don't think they'll be hurting as bad as many think.

it's not like krook is much of a loss from a productivity standpoint anyway.
