I actually get mixed feelings this time of year. I can't wait for football season to get here. But I live in Oregon. July and August are the best months of the year, so I don't want them to go by too fast.

We're entering my favorite time of year. This is how I view my personal calendar from here on out:
July - Race Training
Aug - Hood to Coast
Sept - College football starts
Oct. - Portland Marathon/birthday/college football
Nov. - Hawaii trip/Thanksgiving/skiing/college football
Dec. - Alaska trip/Christmas/skiing/college football
Jan. - More skiing and college football!
Seriously, it's just the best time of the year.

This will be my third Portland Marathon and my 10th H2C!
Both my sisters live in Anchorage, so I go up there to hang out a couple times per year. Both pairs of running shoes I'm using now came from the Skinny Raven! And yeah, we will probably get a cabin at Alyeska.

Washington has it's own version of the H2C. Something . . . Ranier to Pacific? We did that one as few times too.
Ah, to be young and fleet of foot. So, so, long ago.

I lived in South Carolina for a few years in the 90s. Recall the seasons as:Bud Lee wrote:

Being from the Pacific Northwest I certainly knew what rain was but those tropical thundershowers and hurricanes can really drop the water.

That relay isn't around anymore, which makes me sad because I never got to do it. I've done the Ragnar from the Canadian border to Whidbey Island, but the R2P would have been epic.Washington has it's own version of the H2C. Something . . . Ranier to Pacific? We did that one as few times too.

I don't consider myself old by any means (38 this fall), but I'm definitely not as invincible as I was when I trained for my last marathon 10 years ago. But I've found a good balance between training hard and smart. No injuries so far, and I'm actually feeling pretty dang good.

Good on ya pezsez1 and keep it up. I hung up the shoes somewhere around 38 and things went downhill pretty hard in my 40s.pezsez1 wrote:That relay isn't around anymore, which makes me sad because I never got to do it. We actually got lost once at the end of a R2P race. By the time we found the finish area everyone was gone and they were taking down the banners.
