raise your hand if you thought oregon baseball would be 21-8 a third of the way through april? not me!

another brilliant outing by david peterson on friday. all the props in the world to new pitching coach jason dietrich, who has done wonders for the whole staff but peterson especially. we all remember the last couple of years where we had guys who would nibble around the zone and try to outsmart hitters, but now we straight up attack and a guy with peterson's stuff is going to win more battles than he loses.

mercer has not had his best stuff the last two weeks so that bears watching. he's started well enough but has ran into trouble around the 5th inning against both utah and irvine.

glad carranza got the nod on sunday. he's been pitching well in mid-week games and deserved the promotion.

tim susnara had an inside the park home run sunday, first time in his life (according to him) that he's done that. PK is probably one of the few places in the Pac-12 a guy w/o wheels like susnara could do that.

glad dyer is back. he's really fun to watch, and he's hitting as well as anybody on the team.

springfield high alum taylor travess has forced himself into the starting line-up. super fast around the bases, i noticed he caused an errant throw this weekend that i would have ruled a hit. hit a grounder to shortstop, the shortstop looked up and travess was already almost to first. he threw it away trying to beat the runner, all on account of travess' speed.

we host portland on tuesday, then @ tucson for three, which will be very tough. arizona can put up 5 runs in an inning without blinking. of course you go for the win buuuuuuut if can just win one and not get swept that might be just fine. our rpi will likely go up regardless of what we do.
