Yes during the regular season that was their game. But against the top teams in the country, especially one that has a catcher with a gun for an arm, it might be prudent to play it a little closer the vest. We're probably not going to rattle these teams with our pushing constantly on the base paths. Both of those thrown out runners were out by a mile and it probably cost us at least a run and maybe more, possible the game. Time for the coach to make some adjustments. We have the pitching, we just need to be a lot smarter about our offensive strategy.
Sorry to break it to you, but Oregon's game is to put constant pressure on the defense and force them to continue to make plays. If they do Oregon loses, simple as that.

the problem in your scenario is that you're projecting hits that never came. how did it "probably" cost us a run? were we "probably" going to get two more hits that inning to score a runner from 1st?

i get the frustration, but we're not an elite hitting team. we have almost no power, and the announcer said yesterday that all but 6 of our 43 hits this postseason had been singles. the reason we score any runs at all is by putting the ball in play and taking advantage of our speed.

that missed call at second was huge, where Jenna I think was clearly safe. I think it would've been first and second one out, and that play UW ss made cost us a run and maybe more.
