Had a feeling they'd be using the chrome helmets again but they do look a bit odd when used with the more conservative-looking base uniforms.

Yeah, like the parts individually but not sure they go together. Kinda like pineapple and pizza.

The helmet looks black, rather than the chrome from the cancer commemorative.

Glad the wings are back, now just return to the Marcus-era unis and we'll be set.

They're the same chrome helmets as the ones used for the Doernbecher uniforms. The promo shots for this week's combo were clearly taken with a dark backdrop, which is why they appear a bit darker than they did during the Nebraska game. Since they're chrome, they reflect what's around them, making them appear much different in daylight than in manipulated dark lighting.

The Ducks broke in their black helmets today during practice:

Given that, It seems highly likely that they’ll wear the black helmets for the first time this season on Saturday night against Cal. Fans are being asked to wear green, so I’m guessing the full combo will be something like this:

Not really a fan. I could support black pants / jerseys and helmets with green writing and logos though.

Those black helmets probably won't look so black with the chrome wings on em so that could change the color scheme. Cal is likely to go white tops with blue pants so I could see green tops/yellow pants or even black pants with yellow tops but only if Cal isn't wearing any yellow. Black/Green/Black has an Into the Forest feel to it.

So basically they'll be going with a black/green/black combo that's similar to the Fighting Duck look they had back in 2011, also against Cal.

It sure is. Seems any Cal game at home is bound to have some kind of weird occurrence, injury, or plays. In 2003, the power went out in Autzen. In 2005, it went into OT with Dixon and Leaf rotating. In 2007, Cam Colvin fumbled the ball through the endzone. In 2009, Walter Thurmond broke his leg on the opening kickoff. In 2011, LMJ dislocated his elbow. In 2013, it was the torrential monsoon. 2015 seems to be the only game with no oddities.
