Oregon wasted little time in offering 2018 4* PG Brandon Williams, who decommitted from Arizona 2 days ago. His decommitment left Arizona with zero commitments in a year where Miller expects 6-8 players to leave at season's end.

Haha I think you posted this while I was typing my post. I'm guessing this is the "big basketball news." Very cool.

Would be another player who is not a great outside shooter, so it's not the best fit with the class, but he's a hell of a player, so it'd be great to get him regardless. Payton would play more 2 for sure.

Why do you think Williams isn’t a good shooter?

But this is big time, Williams is a baller.

Last I looked, he was shooting about 28% from HS 3. He is a terrific player and we absolutely want him, just saying that it could be a weakness, despite all the amazing talent we have coming in.

You're right. According to maxpreps, he shot 32% from 3 as a JR and 30% as s senior. Not great. Which is interesting because I read a few different scouting reports on him and say that his shot is really nice, especially of the dribble.

He's got solid mechanics and shoots 79% from the line so there's reason to believe he's a solid shooter. He was also jacking up almost 6 threes a game as a SR so that might have something to do with his percentage.

In the past I've always felt it's a good sign when a player says they specifically like the idea of or like playing with another player in the class or on the roster. (Bol Bol, in this case).

I remember Hairston early on saying he loved playing with Aaron Brooks and that being a key in getting him here.
