Yeah, I was watching. Pretty amazing.

UVA was overrated and especially so after losing their 6th-man to injury. The selection committee looks bad for giving them that 1-seed.

Agreed. Even if UVA was a bit overrated, there are lots of #1 seeds in the past that the same could have been said about. You still would never expect them to lose to a team like UMBC. I mean, I didn't even know what the letters UMBC stood for until I Googled it while watching the game. lol

That doesn't make any sense. In what way was Virginia overrated? They went 31-2 in the regular season, and had the most wins in an ACC season in history. They also capped it off by winning the ACC tournament. The ACC also happens to be perhaps the best conference in the nation. How could the committee justify giving them anything but a 1 seed?

Losing your star player perhaps justifies dropping a team a seed, but not a 6th man. They do tend to struggle to make shots in the tournament, because the team is typically a defensive juggernaut that can't shoot a lick, but given their resume, there was no way they could be given anything other than a 1 seed. Who would you have put yup there instead?

If your argument is simply that they shouldn't have gotten the number 1 overall seed, then I still don't think it's worth questioning. Number 1 overall means nothing in the tournament. It doesn't provide any additional advantage. If anything, their region looked the most loaded going into the tournament.

Didn't think I'd see a 16 seed ever beat a 1 seed. Crazy! And by 20 points, sheesh...

Wasnt it the top 1 seed and the bottom 16 seed too? Makes it even a little more crazy.
