Bring back Sports Action? NCAA certainly has bigger fish to fry especially after this decision.

States still have to pass legislation that would legalize sports gambling before it actually becomes legal, so don't go looking for a bookie just yet. Still, this is a very big deal and means at the least Nevada will lose its monopoly over sports gambling.

I'm curious to see how the politics of legalizing sports gambling plays out in the states. It's not obvious to me whether either party will voice strong opposition to it.

P.S. Just to be nitpicky, it was 6-3.

Edit: I was wrong, see below.

That's what I get for taking the headline on the vote. Perhaps the same Restaurant Unions in Oregon that wanted Sports Action gone for the NCAA will change their mind. A Private Casino in Portland may also solve that "Convention Center" problem. I bet there are quite a few people in each big city now thinking about the potential of what could be.

I need to start a PAC and get some of the Soros money, lol.

This is going to be very state-dependent, which is basically what New Jersey and several other states wanted it to be. I'm sure some states will continue outlawing sports gambling but there'll be plenty of others who'll legalize it to get the tax money they can get from people's winnings.

Oops, my bad, I was going based off of SCOTUSblog, which has it as 6-3, but looking further into it it's really 7-2. One of the judges concurred with most of the majority opinion and just dissented with one small part, so I'm pretty sure he gets counted as part of the majority. Mea culpa.
