I don't what it is but it seems like Oregon has had the worst luck with injuries the past 3 seasons. Hopefully Masoli isn't going to be gone long so we don't have to say we lost another QB for a season.

Re: Costa "likely" to start Saturday
Let's all remember that not so long ago Masoli was an unproven backup who had just recently joined the team. He too had to come in for someone who got hurt and we ended up finishing in the top 10. We have an even more experienced backup in Nate Costa so i'm not worried about him being our QB for the time being.

Gotta be positive. I like to think of this as Nate's first (albeit late) step for his heisman campaign!

Take it for what it's worth...but someone over on O-live is saying slight MCL tear for Masoli.

If it is his MCL, then that is the same injury as Troy Polamalu has right now. While it won't be season ending, depending on the severity it takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks to recover.

# Grade I MCL Tear
This is an incomplete tear of the MCL. The tendon is still in continuity, and the symptoms are usually minimal. Patients usually complain of pain with pressure on the MCL, and may be able to return to their sport very quickly. Most athletes miss 1-2 weeks of play.
# Grade II MCL Tear
Grade II injuries are also considered incomplete tears of the MCL. These patients may complain of instability when attempting to cut or pivot. The pain and swelling is more significant, and usually a period of 3-4 weeks of rest is necessary.
I'm praying its a grade 1...

Could be the same guy that said he had the inside track on WTIII & no worries, it was only a bruise. UGH. Why would Masoli be on the travel squad and placed as the starter if he has a tear? Doesn't make sense.chapelhillduck wrote:Take it for what it's worth...but someone over on O-live is saying slight MCL tear for Masoli.
