Does anyone know what happened? I just read in another thread that it was his shoulder. The TV announcers yesterday said they thought it was his hand. Any updates?

Smart guess I've seen around given info available (grabbed his shoulder on ground, could throw with pain, trainer pushing arm up = lot of pain, teammates thinking he's ok for bowl)

AC joint sprain, won't know severity til MRI

Those announcers were clueless. I wouldn't use them as a source, they got a lot of things wrong yesterday. They said wrist right after he put his hand on the ground and pushed himself up.

That was a freak accident.

Herbert's injury definitely looked like an AC joint thing

I know it's just one photo but Herbert looked pretty good shaking hands with Cristobal at today's team banquet:

No sling which is nice to see. Safe to assume it’s nothing too bad otherwise it would likely be immobilized.

I was thinking stinger but just a guess, I believe it is mild and he has a few weeks to recover. I think CB was just playing it safe and we did have the run game going.

I felt like Mario saw that the game was in hand, and went the safe route by taking Justin off the Field

They were going to run it in the 2nd half regardless

In an O-Live (Crepea) piece posted Saturday, there was this:

3) There was considerable optimism [regarding] Justin Herbert's injury
For whatever it's worth, Mario Cristobal and several offensive players were optimistic about Justin Herbert's right shoulder injury.

Sports illustrated put out a bowl projection yesterday, they have Oregon playing Iowa in the holiday bowl on New years eve. It would be a great bowl game for the ducks plus give Herbert over 5 weeks to mend.

San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl, San Diego (7 p.m. ET, FS1)
Big Ten vs. Pac-12
Iowa v Oregon

That'd be pretty ideal, although I don't look forward to going against their TEs.

College Football Talk also predicts the Holiday but against Northwestern.
