OK, now we're dead in the water.

This has just been a horrible transition for the SB program. Marty on 247 Sports says to expect at least one more transfer. They're going to be lucky to finish .500 on the season. It does sound as if Kleist may be headed down to UL-Lafayette to join her former club softball coach.

So...who is left at this point? And what the hell is this new coach doing? One would think player retention is a key initiative when you’re taking over such a successful and talent laden team, and while some turnover is expected, this is a mass exodus.

That's I believe 10 members from last year's team (counting both graduations and transfers) that are no longer in Eugene. Lombardi is going to have prove herself in a really difficult situation as I doubt she expected this much attrition. She's down to 15 (soon to be 14) players. It's likely going to get worse before it gets better. I think think this does show that in softball, players are typically more attracted/committed to the coaches than they are the school.

Wtf is going on?
Beyond comprehension at this point.
Will we ever recover from this?

Another source on Twitter said there's actually 2 more transfers coming. That would just make the situation even worse as that'd leave them with only 13 players, barely enough to field a team.

Wonder what the Sanders family thinks of this? A $17 million stadium and if a couple players have the flu they have to forfeit. Lombardi had an impressive resume but she is apparently out of her league.

Out of her league, or just simply un-likeable.

Lombardi was so excited to coach @ Oregon after the game Oklahoma played against the Ducks last season. The team the fans, playing at The Jane...and now nothing like, That Oregon, exists.

The Register-Guard has an article up. It includes an audio interview in which she sort of addresses her rules, dress codes and behavior. Interesting at about the 3 minute mark. Curious how others interpret her comments.

That interview is from around the time of Shannon Rhodes' transfer, so it's not taking Kleist's transfer into account.

I understand that but the relevant part pertains to her comments regarding team rules and standards. The fact she refers to college students as young girls is relevant IMO. Is a dress code for attending class appropriate?

I don't know but either she'll find out her rules/system don't work out here and change accordingly or she'll keep going ahead with them while finding players that they will work for. Just sucks that a championship-quality team has been blown up in such short order.
