Good list, thanks. Probably need to get to at least 8, and then I could see us maybe finding someone who say, becomes eligible next winter or something like that too.greenyellow wrote:So far these are the players who Oregon has been connected to and still have a chance to add for next season:
Grad transfers: Kelvin Jones, Tevin Mack, Shakur Juiston
2019 recruits: Niven Glover
Reclassifying 2020 recruits: N'Faly Dante, Addison Patterson
Potential 2019-20 roster additions

I think 8 is still too low since that leaves almost no margin for injuries or illness that occurs throughout a season. I think the bare minimum needs to be 10, which means they need to add at least 4 more players.

You have to weigh this against having to be stuck with those players, who are likely to be somewhat less than the cream of the crop, for up to four years. Obviously, grad transfers and JUCO guys would not fall into that category.greenyellow wrote:I think 8 is still too low since that leaves almost no margin for injuries or illness that occurs throughout a season. Given our current recruiting drought I won't be hoping for any more than a couple of recruits. There is just so much more pull elsewhere for these guys now. We are going to have a bare bones squad I feel.

At this point if we add 4 more we'd be lucky if 2 of them were still here by their JR year before transferring.Phalanx wrote:You have to weigh this against having to be stuck with those players, who are likely to be somewhat less than the cream of the crop, for up to four years. Juiston is probably our best bet for an immediate impact player at this point.

Former New Mexico (and West Linn HS) guard Anthony Mathis is now in the transfer portal:

Hopefully, there would still be some chemistry to re-develop between Pritchard and Mathis, should this bear fruit.

His shooting numbers are crazy! He shot 41.6% from 3 last year on 8 attempts per game. And that's DOWN from 47.3% on 6.1 attempts as a JR.

He's almost strictly a 3-point shooter as he took only 71 2-point shots compared to 255 3-point attempts. Here's his career stats in comparison to the last New Mexico player Altman had, Elijah Brown.duck541 wrote:His shooting numbers are crazy! He shot 41.6% from 3 last year on 8 attempts per game. Payton Pritchard telling people on Twitter how close him and Mathis have been for years. At this point, it'd be a shock if Mathis doesn't end up at Oregon.
