Ducks drop in Week 8 polls, but not far

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon didn't really get dinged too badly for losing against UW, dropping 3 spots to #11 in the Coaches Poll and only 1 spot in the AP Poll.

Keep an eye on the next 3 weeks, there's some upsets brewing. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Oregon get up 5 by the time we play USC

they should be ranked top 4, just like we should have been top 4 worthy if we had won.

Might be splitting hairs but for all of the conference "perception" Michigan is ensconced at #2 while having played nobody.

That should all be settled by the end of the season. Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State all still have to play each other, though it's possible that one of them may end up 11-1, not play in the conference championship, but still make the playoff.

Oklahoma has a good chance to win out but if they do, they're likely looking at a rematch with Texas. Whoever wins that game, assuming it happens, is likely to be in, as well.

Florida State looks to have an easy path to win out, but they may be undefeated and get jumped. The ACC isn't very strong this season.

If Oregon and UW win out the winner of that championship game should be in.

However, if Georgia goes unbeaten, or even has a close loss that wasn't in the SEC championship game, I can't imagine the two time defending national champs being left out.

That means someone would get ripped off. Thank goodness this is the last season of this 4 team playoff nonsense!

Michigan hasn’t won an OOC game of note in years, including post-season play. They intentionally play cupcakes, beat tOSU, and let the CFP committee reward them for it. They may be a top 4 team this year but they objectively have not earned the right to be in the discussion.

Still at 9 shows the respect Oregon has this year.

But I agree, Washington should be 4th. Florida State’s home win against LSU means less than Washington’s win over Oregon.
