It's really stupid that the steroid test was found positive in September, yet he got to play all season, play in the Pro Bowl, and win the DROY during the appeals process.
Meanwhile, in baseball they want to ban you for life for the same offense.
They did strip him of it and now they're will be a re-vote

It does look as if Byrd is the frontrunner for the award but the AP writers don't always have the best memory and could forget about him. Hopefully that's not the case with Byrd. He rightfully deserves the award if they are indeed revoting.pudgejeff wrote:Biggus Duckus wrote:There is the talk of the AP stripping his DROY award, meaning Byrd might be the new DROY!

That would be great if Byrd won! And I think everyone in the Pac-10 new Cushing would get busted at the next level.I mean he did go from napoleon dynamite with man boobs to the incredible hulk in just a couple years....

I was watching nfl network today and they said he hasn't been formally stripped but there will be a re-vote where the AP writers can still vote for Cushing if they really want to.pudgejeff wrote:Biggus Duckus wrote:There is the talk of the AP stripping his DROY award, meaning Byrd might be the new DROY!

I don't understand their reasoning to leaving him on the ballot. Are you kidding me??? What kind of message does that send? Doesn't surprise me, but isn't there somebody out there that does the right thing?

HMmm... With the evidence of past 'juicers' like Lyle Alzado, you have to wonder what some of these guys are thinking.
I realize there are a lot of steroid users who don't end up with crippling heart disease, or cancer (Or dead... Some of us non-juicers end up there) but what good id all the money and notoriety, if you don't have the long term health to enjoy it?
Or, for that matter, if the 'roid rage lands your sorry butt in the slammer?

Peter King is leaning towards voting for Clay Matthews, which to me is wrong since Byrd finished 2nd originally and should move up accordingly.
