Like last year - Nike will not do a throwback of a Jersey that they did not make - thus the jersey (if they do a throwback) would be 98 or newer

They've done it with other schools (Florida and Miami), but I doubt they'll do that with Oregon.pdxduck21 wrote:Like last year - Nike will not do a throwback of a Jersey that they did not make - thus the jersey (if they do a throwback) would be 98 or newer

I've seen T-shirts and hats made by Russell Athletics dating before 98.pdxduck21 wrote:Like last year - Nike will not do a throwback of a Jersey that they did not make - thus the jersey (if they do a throwback) would be 98 or newer

Oregon State's giant killer unis were certainly not Nike's.

Yes but those were well before Nike was established and perhaps they bought the licensing rights to them...not certain,
All I know was the chatter last year around the 95/96 unis were they were not Nike so Nike would not replicate THOSE ones - perhaps it is licensing rights to the uni's in the early 90's from Russell Athletic

Or, perhaps it is tied to the licensing rights to Disney, since it used the duck on the sleeve. If so, maybe it's not an issue anymore with Disney releasing the rights back to Oregon???pdxduck21 wrote:Yes but those were well before Nike was established and perhaps they bought the licensing rights to them...not certain,

Re: Pro Combat Throwbacks???
Nike didn't get into the uni business until '96 or so, in fact I think Colorado was the first team to sport the swoosh. Nike may not be able to make unis with Donald on them due to Disney and whatnot, but other than that there really is no reason they can't make any year of uni that UO has worn. Every tOSU throwback is from the 60's and 50's. Personally I would like to see a throwback white that we wore I believe we wore back when Casanova was coach.

If they do wear the throwback, I would expect the green to look like the green jerseys from last year. Remember they where that ugly shade of green also in '98.

All they really need is a white jersey to match the 98 season and they would be set.

Disney probably still owns the rights to logo with Donald running through the big block letter O.AutzenMember wrote:Or, perhaps it is tied to the licensing rights to Disney, since it used the duck on the sleeve. I have a couple of my grandfathers old hats here.DarronThomas1 wrote:I've seen T-shirts and hats made by Russell Athletics dating before 98.pdxduck21 wrote:Like last year - Nike will not do a throwback of a Jersey that they did not make - thus the jersey (if they do a throwback) would be 98 or newer
A 96 Cotton Bowl hat made by "Richardson".
The other is so old that the label is completely faded away. It has just the square-looking "O" with no "U". Probably from the same time that Phil Knight was still at UO. So, probably not Nike.
