I can see why Byrd is the top Cover 2 corner. He's not the fastest CB but has good coverage skills that translates well into the NFL. Cover 2 doesn't require as much man-to-man so his speed wouldn't be as big a liability. Plus he's big enough that he could cover some TEs and RBs that come out to his spot.
