Oregon vs Auburn National Championship Thread

I'm curious how the tickets are going to be distributed for the game? There'll be an allotment to each school and an allotment for the media, etc, but I'm wondering how many of the locals will have access? The reason why is because I live here in the Phoenix area and there are a LOT of Duck fans down here that will be frothing at the mouth to get tickets. It would be nice to have a bit of a "homefield advantage" feel to the game. This is Pac-10 country!

SEC Media Analyst says Oregon has not played nearly the difficulty of schedule that Auburn has, and that Oregon has not seen anyone with the combination of size and speed that Auburn has. Further, he goes on to say, "Oregon looks like a bunch of rocket-powered midgets."

I hope the Auburn coaching staff doesn't buy into the superiority of their team against Oregon, like the fan base and media from the rest of the SEC. They will be in for a rude awakening if they do.

Shouldn't that mean we want them to underestimate us? I really like our chances in this game. This team is not going to be too excited about it, its all part of the plan as the Joker would say, and that will help us tremendously. This team has been taught every day to focus on finishing the job. Auburn is a very awesome team, but I don't see that same mental toughness from the entire team and if Tiger players start looking around waiting for Cam to make a play, it will be a big benefit to us.

Yes, that's exactly what I want, for the coaching staff to underestimate us and buy into their own hype. I was speaking from SEC fan's point of view. I like your confidence. If Oregon plays their A+ or even A game on offense, I see the natty coming to Eugene. As our D is opportunistic and makes turnovers, as well as, our special teams busting a big play or two.

But, if our Offense struggles, stalls, and can't move the ball well against Auburn, it's going to look a lot like last year's Rose Bowl. One of the most disappointing losses I've ever experienced. I'm almost glad this Oregon team experienced that defeat last year to a comparable team, because it will make them that much more hungry to perform in this game.

And, I think that Phil Knight was the one quoted recently in an interview as saying, "everything is going according to the plan."

Really, bringing up the 95 Penn State team? Can you name any of the offensive players from that game w/o looking it up? How does that have anything to do with a bunch of kids who were 3-6 years old? Also, if Masoli knew how to pass in the Rose Bowl, totally different game. He did an awesome job throwing lasers into the ground and running out of bounds for a 5yd loss rather than throw it away.

Does 2010 Oregon/Auburn remind anyone of 2005 USC/Texas match-up?

2005 Trojans, explosive offense, opportunistic D that gave up some points. Great talent and skill players across the entire offense, QB, RB especially.

2005 Longhorns, great talent overall, but not as good as the Trojans across the board, but one man, a big, fast QB named V.Young decided to take over and play MJ to win the game.

NCduck... I thought about Vince Young too. The lesson there? Absolutely make Newton beat us with the pass, so go man-man out the back, but keep one deep to prevent the bigger plays??

Biggus... I think last year's experience should help from a mental standpoint. Sour taste in the mouth. Memory of the more physical opponent. Oregon needs space for the speed to dominate the game, so I guess reverse the field when possible (see Northwestern, and of course Oregon against Oregon State).

In the ducks favor??? Look at Auburn's coach. I think Kelley can out prep Chizik and be more creative. LBers are key, in general, and it is great to hear that Oregon has a lot of good ones. I've just watched from time to time from a far, but now I'm 'all in.'

I once saw Oregon lose to Indiana, what is the point? You know, Oregon lost our first Rose Bowl to Ohio State too, shouldn't that get brought up as well? Further, I don't know if "physical" is the proper term to describe that PSU team. That offense was lights-out!

I just don't see any relevance whatsoever to games that current players had absolutely nothing to do with.

I certainly hope UO can use Auburn's size against them (tire them out on D)--a good point you raised elsewhere.

No, its not how I would describe it (offensive juggernaut) and frankly, I'm still a little lost why you are going back to a team thats only connection to that specific game is a few coaches. It has zero bearing on this game. If you want to use that as an example then by golly, we're f'ed. We lost twice to Adrian Peterson's Sooners so surely we have no shot in this one by your logic.

Likewise, why is VaTech going to win by two touchdowns???? Please do tell. I've talked to many people out east that think VaTech loses. I love this kind of discussion...so informative.

I hope they really believe it. That way, when they get their first taste of Owen Marecic followed by a firm serving of Luck, maybe it will really begin to set in for them that we do in fact play real good football out west.

Off topic a bit but, can you guys imagine what Oregon could do for our reputation over the next two games? As well as the reputation of the PAC 10. Beat the best team in the sec this year for the natty. Then turn around and beat LSU next year.

That would go a long way to diminish the super SEC imo..
