More on Bryce

Just noticed Bryce Brown no longer has a facebook page, or at least one I can't find. I would look at it every few days and it's sad, he had people absolutely begging him and then calling him out too on his own page. Poor guy. The Miami fans were brutal.
I posted on there once or twice and just said good luck with your decision wherever you end up. Not like you must pick Oregon or anything. Well it's official one month today it all gets laid to rest anyways.
At that point with it this public if he picks Oregon, not only the value of the player we get but the value of that publicity would be UNREAL!

Yeah, I can only think him losing his facebook works to our favor. I didn't personally see what Miami fans said on his facebook, but nate told me he saw some pretty nasty things.

Bryce sounds like he really loves Oregon.

I doubt SC, LSU, or Tennessee can steal him this late in the game, as LSU/USC's RB's are loaded and Tennessee just doesn't stand up to Oregon anywhere.

Miami is a huge question mark, but Oregon is proven and finished second in the nation in overall rushing in '08.

If Bryce is smart, he'll choose Oregon because he stands the greatest chance of putting up huge stats on a BCS challenging team, thus higher draft potential.

If Bryce chooses based on which coach he likes the most, he'll choose Oregon.

If Bryce wants to play for a favorite BCS school, he decide on USC/LSU.

If Bryce values nice weather and hot chicks more, he'll choose Miami or SC.

If Bryce values playing with his brother the most, he'll choose Miami.

And finally, if Bryce listens to his mentor, he'll likely end up at Miami.

Looks like 2 to 4 odds that Bryce will come to Oregon weighing those five factors. 33% chance IMO.

Not a stunning endorsement of LSU but they are just like SC and Miami, we will would have a tough time competing for recruits against them but this is not your normal situation and BB is ours IMO based on his quotes and what we bring to the table.

Interesting thought on his quote from that audio (sorry I can't find a text version of it), BB might have been more interested with us if we still had JJ because we wants to come in and compete for the job and be pushed in practice but not really wanting to be "the Man" to start. So a negative against us could be that we don't have a stable of solid backs in the pipeline outside of Blount and LMJ, the other RBs on our roster he may not consider competition...just thinking out loud here gang!

Not if you ask UT fans. Most of them seem to think it's unfathomable that Oregon is better than UT for Brown in any way. If you start pointing out stats, etc. they just start bringing up SEC vs. Pac-10, "tradition" and "national stage", incorrect and irrelevant arguments. It's hilarious actually.

I don't think that's a negative. I think he is referring more to the quality of the entire team rather than just the RB core. I assume that he wants to be the featured back at some point. He just doesn't want to be the only offensive option on the team. I think that's why he likes Chip Kelly in x's and o's terms. His entire offensive philosophy is based on spreading the field as much as possible. You can't accomplish that by going to Brown 90% of the plays. At Oregon, as long as Kelly is at the helm, the work-load will be shared.

As far as Brown and LSU goes, it doesn't worry me too much. They have a great recruiting class there. But, they also run a vanilla rushing game, imo. Who wants to dive between tackles for 4-6 yards 90% of the game. Oregon's spread option is designed to get players in the open field. In turn, that allows athletes to show how talented they are rather than pushing down the field in a giant scrum. Down the stretch, LSU will be known as the team with "that great recruiting class" rather than the team "with that great running back." Besides, you have to remember that these programs are dishing out money to have Brown visit. I'm sure he feels obligated to throw them a bone in return, even if he's just touring the NCAA.

Heh. Who knows. Maybe I was the one who heard it wrong.

At some point, all of these "reasons" I'm coming up with are just me convincing myself. Brown could see it completely differently.

The weakness I see with USC is that, since the Reggie Bush days, they haven't really established an identity in the rushing game. Chow is long gone. With all of the 6* running backs and offensive lineman they have, you would think that their rushing numbers wouldn't be as mediocre as they are. They're winning games with the passing game and defense. Most people probably couldn't even name who USC's running backs are. And they were supposed to be Adrien Peterson level stars out of HS.

The Ducks do have an identity on the ground. They've done more (with less than USC) rushing the ball. JJ was a 3* recruit, undersized for the NFL and split carries his entire college career but is still projected to go in the third round of the draft.

I might have agreed with you before watching the video of James. He reminded me of JJ, in his ability to see the field, change directions, and make tacklers miss. And he is fast! He is going to be fun to watch!

Hmmmmmmm, strangely enough, i think that if Bryce listens to his advisor (bryce butler), i think he chooses Oregon. They may have the same initials but i do think that Butler is not a completely worthless person, he just needs to realize that he thinks along the NFL lines not the NCAA guidelines. He is looking out for what is best for BBrown but he may be a few years ahead of what most people are ready for. Shocking? Well get used to it. College is a stepping stone for many high profile athletes. College is not the intellectual gift most of you think it is . . .
