I don't know if I'd go that far. For the life of me I can't remember how Alto was with the glove last year, but Serna has always been an error machine, and Pulfer makes his fair share of them, too. I don't think they 'skip the details', they just aren't elite defenders and never will be. Serna has a pro career in front of him, but it certainly isn't at SS.

But you would think that they should at least improve in the 2+ years of being in college with a good coaching staff.oregontrack wrote:I don't know if I'd go that far. I think Pulfer has gotten a lot better. He had 12 errors in 55 games in '09, then had 7 in 64 games in '10. He's got 5 in 32 games this year, so he's on pace to eclipse last year's total, but his fielding % isn't far off. Based on his assist totals he's getting a bit more work in. Errors are subjective to the amount of plays one is involved in, after all.
Serna's actually a lot better this year. He took an odd step back last year, both in shear number of errors and fielding %. This year, his % has actually spiked considerably, which is nice.
