I was reading the R-G this morning and it said that Marcus Piazzisi has been dismissed from the team after a "disagreement" with Horton. It must really have been something big to dismiss a SR like that. Makes you wonder if Horton has lost this team and we'll see mass defections after the season.

I don't know. It's very hard to lose a baseball team. Pizza is probably pissed that he's played so poorly he lost his job to a freshman.

Stanford gets a leadoff triple, scores on a sac fly. Oregon loads the bases in the bottom of the first, Garlick strikes out looking to end the threat. Very wide strike zone today in the early going, batters need to adjust.

Best case scenario . . . if we go down fighting in their lat 10, at least it will give us something to build on during the offseason. Lots of work to do, but we've got a lot of young talent.

well, the 5th inning was not a good example of 'fighting'. a 'Furd player steals second unopposed, the ball never left Jones' hand; the infield simply wasn't covering 2nd. Then, on a passed ball, everybody is asleep and not only does the 'Furd player take third, he comes all the way around and scores with no throw because Jones fails to cover home.

Unbelievable to me that when we make one mistake, we almost ALWAYS compound it with two or three more. Smarter play and we lead by 2. Oh well!

So we've made the mistakes early this game . . . now we'll have to sweat the bullpen and Stanford's relievers. I was concerned about how we would come back today . . . mixed at best so far.

Maddening mental errors that have plagued us all year aside, I've been impressed with the fight the team has put up today. We're going nowhere, Stanford is a Top 25 club. Losses like yesterday could/should be devastating to a team as bad as we are, but they seemed to have shrugged it off. Still not saying we'll win today, but I'd say the response has been promising.
