I don't know if I agree with Mosley on this issue. If he was dealing with professionals, I would completly agree with his stance. But since he is dealing with amateur athletes, and privacy laws, Chip Kelly should be able to restrict any info and access to players he deams neccesary.

It seems as if this is the first time this has happend. I feel like mosely jumped the gun and just vented by writing that article. When i read it i kinda felt like i was listening to a brat having a fit because he got told NO for the first time in his life.

p.s. I dont have anything against Rob i really enjoy almost all of the articles he writes!

I am not going to defend either the university or Rob Moseley in this post. I do not have all the facts surrounding the situation but will point out that the coaches and their players especially the players are entitled to their privacy and if this was merely an attempt by a journalist to get information that would violate it claiming they have the right then would have to agree with Coach Kelly for denying him that. If this is an attempt from the university to restrict information from being generated that does not cross the privacy laws and should be out there for public display then believe this is a travesty on the universities part. I do not have all the facts and so I can not make any assumptions without knowing everything. I can merely see both sides and am not sure who here is right. I think Moseley is wrong if is objecting this much to something that should clearly be private.I wonder though if is more to this than simply that though. If is not more to it then as said Moseley is wrong.

He should probably complain to Clownzano and Husky Koe because my money would be on both of them being the reason for UO giving the media the cold shoulder.

I think his work really is the model for how cfb coverage should be on-line.

However, I disagree with him on this issue. I left a partial novel comment about it there. :)

I usually really like Rob's blog over at the RG, but this article was total cry baby. If it proves to happen time and time again and the university is blatantly withholding info in the hopes of generating more hits on their web site or more subscribers to O Zone, then yes call them out on it. Until then, dry your eye Rob.

I agree with him. It's also a good thing for the university to be called out on it before it becomes something bigger. There is a reason journalists feel strongly about this type of thing. Filtering information like this is bad PR and has given the profession a bad name for decades.

If it was an unintentional move by the school (likely) it's a solid opportunity to see where there are breakdowns in communication policy within the school and fix it. Isn't it a good thing if they get it all straight now instead of at a later date when things could look really bad?

If it was inentional (unlikely) it's also good to be called out. I for one come here for info about my favorite school and if everything were intentionally filtered by the school it would cause a chilling effect on the info. I don't want spin, I want the truth.

I studued PR in college, did 6 internships, and worked in PR for a while. Rob's argument is legit. It may come off as whiney or spoiled but his points are valid.
