It's too bad he has to play for the Seahawks. I was happy for Mo-Mo that he was able to escape that prison. I'd rather see Ducks with the Lions than Seahawks. :?

Completely disagree. I'd much rather see our guys going to a place where they will, you know, succeed. Detroit isn't that place. Seattle is in much better shape.

Even if I didn't completely despise the Seahawks, I would still disagree with this statement. Seattle is going to crash and burn quickly. They are aging quickly, and don't have very many quality young players. Hasselbeck will miss significant time again this year and they will crumble once more. Probably about a 5-6 win team. I suppose you could call that success. Detroit likely won't beat that this year, but they will be poised for more success in a couple years. Millen doesn't run that franchise anymore. Seattle would have been wise to take Sanchez, because they don't have any QBs ready to take over once Hasselbeck is gone. Seneca Wallace isn't going to be winning anyone any ballgames.

Yea I'm with Droop on this one. I mean who on that team outside of now Curry and the Lofa are key guys who are young and that scare you. Hasselbeck is old and is going to have a tough time stayin healthy cause he has a really bad back. They have no running backs and only 1 good WR.

I am not sure Detroit will ever be good no matter how much talent they have......... they have had talent in the past and can just never win. Seattle I am sure will be in the process of rebuilding and will be pretty good again soon. I am just happy they all went on the first day!

First day means a better paycheck, so that's the bottom line at this point. Great for our guys!

Even if that's all true, the Seahawks are far better off as a franchise in general than the Lions are. I'd much rather have our guys go somewhere where they aren't perpetually doomed to fail. The Seahawks are rebuilding as a team but the Lions are rebuilding their entire franchise, not just the team. With some of the picks the Lions made, I seriously wonder if they'll be much better off than they were with Millen. The key to a solid NFL team is the o-line and Detroit, for whatever reason, doesn't do ANYTHING to help it. Unless of course you count drafting an offensive tackle in the 7th round. Seattle is in much, much better shape despite the rebuilding.

Success may not have been the right word for me to use, although relative to the Detroit Lions it will indeed be success . Seattle has got a ways to go to rebuilding but drafting Unger will help out with that as he learns the system.

IMO, Detroit would have been better served by taking 2-3 stud O-linemen early.

There were still some darn good QBs available late, even a couple who went undrafted (Harrell and Daniel come to mind...), who may have out performed any body drafted today by Detroit, if they were able to play behind a decent line.

I cant believe the Lions took Pettirgrew with their second pick in the first round. He's a good blocking TE but hes not a LT. They could have got a good blocking tight end later in the draft. We all know from the Holiday Bowl that Pettigrew isnt a recieving threat what so ever. The ducks gave up tons of yards to so so TE's though out the year and he didnt do anything against us.

I am curious to see how the Lions do this year. I feel bad for Stafford. I will be shocked if he turns that train wreck around.

Harrington couldn't do it, all of the top WR's they picked three years in a row couldn't do it, Stafford won't do it. Detroit is terrible and needs a line to protect the QB and give him time to pass. They have mostly always had good RB, WR and QB talent but have never had a good o-line or defense.

The lions really need to stop going after skill position on offense with their top 10 picks. If the last 8 years or whatever it's been, they could have drafted on defense and at least be competitive.

Coming from a Lions fan, I think your a little flawed on your thinking of the Joey era in Detroit.

The Lions did draft three straight top ranked WR's but only one really made it on the field. They drafted Charles Rogers who was knocked out of the season twice and then was gone for his love of pot. They drafted Mike Williams who ate himself off the team before he even got started. Both of these WR's are no longer in the league. The only WR that amounted to anything was Roy Williams. I love Joey, he did some awesome things at Oregon but whether it was playing too soon or on the wrong team, Joey was a below average QB and proved so in Detroit and after leaving Detroit. As for RB, he havent had a above average running back since Barry.

Hopefully the Lions do the smart thing and let Stafford sit this year and strengthen a couple spots on the line through free agency next year but the problem last year and this year wont be the offense, it will be the league worst defense. If Stafford does play he will be in trouble but will have a better shot then Joey did. He will have a proven WR in Calvin Johnson, a better offensive line (which tells you how bad our line was a few years ago) and some young talent at TE and RB

I'm with Penky26.

The Lions needed to pick up Michael Oher. If not him, they needed Unger or Mack with another solid tackle pick up later in the second round (Raiola will not last forever). The smart thing to do would have been to live with Culpepper for a year and pick up one of the many QB's available next year. Curry and another big DT would have been perfect. Also, why not pick up Chung. They picked up Louis Delmas one pick earlier and Chung is a proven playmaker with no durability issues. Though. I'm glad they didn't because I would rather have Chung playing for a good team.

I thought the Seahawks did good with the draft picks that they had. Cinci, Eagles, and Browns I think had the best drafts. I can't believe that the Jets only drafted 3 players.
