I love the fact that the Pac-10 plays the round robin. But he dose have some good reason why to dump it....what does everyone else think? Pad the schedule like the sec?

I as well like the fact that Pac 10 teams play everyone in conference. But it does put us at a competitive disadvantage. If we could expect that other conferences would at least try to follow suit, or that pollsters would logically take this into account when voting.......then I'd say hold the course.

But all know that neither of these options is remotely likely. And, for better or worse, college football is increasingly about the dollars and cents. So I can see the round robin going away. Instead of playing USC at Autzen, we may get Portland State. Possibly better for the record, but a snoozer of a game from the fan perspective.

I'm on board with what Miller is saying. Pad your schedule, and look better to the idiots on the east coast who don't watch your games yet have a vote in your placement into the BCS.

We live in a world where wins are more importantant than the integrity of the confrence. We currently play on a higher level than every other confrence but it unfortunatly does nothing for our reputation and holds no resonance or meaning to those outside the confrence. I'm on board with what Ted says.

Why not just step in line and play by the rules that all the other confrences live by, that is, pad *cough* schedule *cough*
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

To a limited point I agree with Miller... to a point. However the majority of me likes the idea of the round robin format. Yes it is what makes the Pac 10 unique. I want a conference where most often is a clear champion because each team plays each other. In a nutshell if you win all of your games will be in the BCS championship. Every year in the BCS are teams that get screwed by the BCS and the Pac 10 adding patsies to their schedule will not stop that. As long as we have the BCS it will always be that way. I like the integrity of the conference.

I hate that I agree with him.

I would rather that all conferences were limited to 10 teams and were required to play a round robin. It would then be even better if wins against FCS teams could not count toward bowl eligibility.

But, since this will never happen, the Pac-10 should get rid of the round robin and schedule cupcake OOC games in order to have more teams Bowl eligible and send 2 teams to BCS games every year.

I'd be in favor of the current round robin schedule IF everyone else were doing it too. With no D1 playoff anywhere in sight, the late season losses can be devastating to a team in the race for a NC or BCS bowl.

Other "power" conference schools stuff their scedules with the Louisiana-Lafeyette, Louisiana-Monroe, Idaho State and Georgia Southern's of the world, so why in the world couldn't we stick one of those teams into our schedule around week 9-10, rather than a trip to Stanford or Arizona, let our injured guys get some healing time and chalk up an easy win?

I hope this new Pac-10 Commissioner is more aware of this type of thing than his predecessor.

My two cents.

I simply can't bring myself to want to see 1-2 less competitive games in order to compensate for the BCS being broken.

I'd rather watch the best football, with the schedule as it is and accept that it costs us some in the BCS. For me, at the end of the day, it's about the experience of the games and the competition. I realize that it costs us in terms of prestige, recruiting, etc. But, winning favor in the eyes of poll voters is a secondary goal to me. The teams that pad their schedules as part of a BCS strategy, in my opinion, have lost competitive integrity.

The BCS should be scrapped or completely over-hauled to not reward teams for having wimpy schedules. Maybe it's unrealistic that that will happen. But, I'm sticking to that solution. :)

To gain serious national respect, Pac-10 teams need to continue the bowl-winning streak started this year, and begin posing a year-in, year-out challenge to USC. Doing that, with or without round robin play, should hopefully solve the problem.

The only way you get a true conference champion is if every team in the conference plays each other once.

What if the Pac-10 would try to get some rules in place making the other conferences play 9 games in confrence? Probobly not possible, but an idea. That or making rules that limit the number of DII that count in records and stats. I think something needs to be done to keep all the conferences on the same level.

I'm surprised that TV contracts don't restrict the number of these cupcakes. With all the demand for good games, it would seem like they would place in a clause that would encourage these money games. Everyone knows that money is the only way things are going to change. Also, The argument for people who don't want lower conference teams playing in the NC game or BCS games is that those teams can not take playing good teams consistently. Most teams play a similar strength of schedule as those lower conferences because they start with FCS teams and mix in a horrible team during conference play. Rarely do high ranked teams have a schedule that plays a team of similar skill every week. I wonder if Bryce Brown is preparing himself for the NFL by playing Western Kentucky, Ohio, and Memphis next year.

I hope the PAC10 doesn't ever get rid of the round robin. It makes the season more interesting. I've enjoyed the last couple of years more with this in place. Though, one thing that I wish that would change is having a conference opponent on week one. Every team should start out with at least one non-conference opponent to get a feel for what is going on before the games that decide a conference champ. I know that it doesn't happen often but it has happened twice in the last three years.

If the conclusion of this congressional hearing is that the BCS is legally obligated to further level the playing field for participants, I think such rules would logically be part of that.

The more I think about it, the more I am opposed to leaving the round robin. It's one thing somebody is doing right in the NCAA. Joining the crowd and leaving it would be one more step away from ever having meaningful change. Simply as a customer, I'm stoked with the home schedule this year. I don't think that better football will be played, on average, anywhere else in the country. Every game is quality.

Yet two seasons ago USC and ASU were co-champions even though USC won the head-to-head matchup. That makes no sense.

What do you mean it makes no sense. Yes two years ago the Pac 10 had co champions. The only thing that would not have made sense is if did not have a round robin and those two teams did not play each other. That was how it was before the addition of the 12th game. In sports there has always been co champions and the first tie breaker is head to head competition. When it gets interesting is when it is a 3 way tie like could have happened last year if USC lost to UCLA. That would have sent Oregon State to the rose bowl even though we beat them. I like the round robin and wish that others would play 9 conference foes. I believe the big 10 does but not sure. They now have 11 teams so can not do a full round robin.
