Rivals post spring power rankings:

Post by jhopduck »

These rankings are for the nation, not conference specific
#12 QB=Jeremiah Masoli
#5 RB= LeGarrette Blount (behind Quizz Rogers????)
No WR's in top 25
#7 TE= Ed Dickson
No OL in top 25
No DL in top 25
No LB in top 25
No DB in top 25 (Thurmond and Ward not in??)
No special teams players
Chip Kelly is apparently not one of the 25 best coaches. No OC or DC coaches either.

Side Note: Oregon State had someone on virtually every list. That exposure of the game VS SC did them wonders. Highlights the importance of good TV exposure for your team IMO.

Those Rankings a bogus. I take particular exception to WTIII not even being mentioned. I at at least know Pac 10 players and why Devin Ross would ever be over WTIII is beyond me. And do people really think Thompson of Cal is the best in the pac 10 and top 5? He's good but not better than WTIII.
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

There are not 12 better "players" at Qb than Masoli, he's got to be top 10 after he led this offense to finish the year.

Everyone thinks their star quarterback is in the top #10. I just posted the link on OBNUG (One Bronco Nation Under God) for kicks and giggles. Moore is rated 18 and behind Masoli. They're a calling him a demi-god over there, so can bet this will stir up an uproar. I love being an instigator. Anyway, Masoli needs to prove a little more. Of course, he has more upside to jump that list with him running for some 700 yards and 10 tds. He just has to couple that with 250 yards a game and he is a heisman candidate in the the making.

If Masoli can throw for that much or more we will be in a BCS bowl because only maybe one team in ten would be able to keep up with our scoring with that kind of passing threat. I believe that our O line will be at worst "OK" barring injuries and if the defense can't load the box they are dead against the Ducks' combination of offensive plays.

Agreed. That is why the season is so exciting. When he threw for 250+ we stomped the likes of Arizona, Oregon State, and Oklahoma State. String a whole sesason together and you have a heisman favorite for his senior year. In all honesty, there is nothing the kid could do to supplant McCoy, Bradford, and Tebow.

WTIII was on rivals all spring team. But he's no where to be found in their top 25 position ranking?

One of my favorite developing stories for the upcoming season is the enormous bust that Quizz will become (relative to his press, at least.)

I'm with you there. First off, I don't see him making it through the season healthy. 40 carries a game, being that small & now a serious shoulder injury on top of it. I'll be surprised if he makes it as long as he did last year.

Secondly, teams won't be caught off guard by this little midget who can't put together a TD run of more than 8 yards. Teams willl have some sort of strategy to slow him down & without any real speed he wont be able to do much to counter that. No way he replicates what he did last year.
