True...wr is stacked..on paper. There are few proven wrs on the team. Personally I think all of the wrs will be good..but that doesnt mean anything unless they perform. Pflu was a proven wr. I liked Pflu and Rope alot..sucks to see em go.

Pflu had like 26 catches in two years. That doesn't exactly put him in the proven category. Maehl is our most proven wide receiver with Holland/Harper right there. DJ Davis is more proven as well. There are 4 guys that at his equivalent or higher. Roper was inconsistent as well but the position needs his depth. Roper is a much tougher loss to swallow.

Wrong... Osborne fouled up the win in the final seconds, wrongly rushing the FG unit onto the field after the plan to spike the ball on 3rd down somehow didn't make it into his ear hole. Bellotti took the blame because that's the kind of leader he is.

Holland is not proven nor is Plufgrad. Holland started seeing the field last year toward the end. Both players got a smattering of playing time and have contributed a little bit as underclassmen. During the regular season Holland had 4 catches and Pflu 6. However, Holland turned in a decent Holiday bowl (3 catches I think for some 70+ yards) and definitely went into the offseason with more momentum. Pflu had a slight lead in production up to that point. To say that Pflu was a proven quantity is an overstatement. Imo, Holland, with his blazing speed, is much more of a guarantee for a locking down a starting spot. Holland is on preseason watchlists to break out, not Pflu. Hopefully Masoli can get the deep ball to Holland this next year because Holland will flat out burn people (seriously, if he is beating Thurmond in spring, he'll burn just about anyone). Overall, I feel like this will be a productive year with Holland, Davis and Maehl as our starters.

Back to thread, Roper will much more missed with the depth we need year in and year out at quarterback in our offensive system.

There must be something going on behind the scenes that Roper feels better off elsewhere vs. being #2. Either Costa or Thomas must have made leaps and bounds for Chip to agree to the transfer. There's more here that we don't know about, otherwise Chip would have convinced Justin to stay. Let's just wait & see. There's more than meets the eye here. That's a lot of trouble for an athlete to go through just because he's not in the #1 slot. Sends up red flags on this one.

Off the subject of Rope...I sure hope that Costa's knee has healed good this time. Not just for football reasons for his health. That kid has no luck.

Wow, we got pretty thin at QB over the long weekend... but it wouldnt be Oregon football without a little uncertainty at the QB spot, would it?!? I agree with MFRD, there's got to more to the story... Here is my guess...

Roper wants to play in the NFL, his chances of getting drafted as the 2nd string QB in a spread option O are slim. He thinks he has a better shot at getting drafted by going somewhere else, even if he has to sit out a year. If Masoli stays healthy for the next two years Rope barley sees the field.

Good luck to Rope wherever he goes...

Total disrespect AND it will find its way into their locker room. We don't need that. I am okay with the "O"'s. That is just fun fan play.

They are over on obnug.com (one bronco nation under god) making flippant comments about taking quarterbacks out and it's not just Masoli but the Nevada guy as well. In fact, there is entire post about which player breaks the guy's leg. Of course, we don't have to be as obnoxious but they sure as hell make it hard not to be.

I say we keep this type of stuff off the net and play it cool. Makes for such better taste when we beat them down and shut their pie-holes in their flimsy house of cards. We all know that the hit on Jeremiah Masoli by Ellis Powers was a cheap shot and a late hit, and and Jeron "Straight out of Compton" Johnson would hit Ed Dickson with a cheap shot later in the game as well. Both hits were uncalled, unnecessary, and unfortunately for us one of those hits cost us the game. I witnessed the game first hand and the way BSU celebrated after the game made me sick, players, and fans alike. Walking back from the game there were several rude comments exchanged between opposing fans, but from my observation BSU fans initiated the rude behavior. I hate Boise St and this was merely an expression of my feelings towards the BSU football program.
