Harper proved many times over that he doesn't have the arm to play D1 QB. We lost the BSU game because he was so poor at throwing.... well that and the fact that the coaches didn't put in Thomas sooner. Either way, if he wanted to be a QB bad enough to transfer to a much lesser program, then so be it. I have serious doubts that we'll see him "ripping us up" as a QB.

Locker room cancer= Gone. Not a popular teammate. Unlike Pflu and Rope.

I am so glad that Oregon has the services of a kid (Make that 'young man'...) like Darron Thomas, who seems to be the epitomy of a hard working, team-first, player.

Masoli, DT, and Nate Costa could well be the 'straws that broke the camel's back for Harper.

Funny how the hot shots lined up to play at USC don't seem to have as much trouble waiting for their shot as Chris did while at Oregon.

That homesick ruse was always bs. Not really a clear-cut decision to make. But, I don't think Oregon should have moved him from QB. He had potential up-side there if he could develop and was ready to use for trick plays. Plus, if they just threw a position change out there as an option for him, he might have made that decision himself and been happy with it after a few years.

I didn't want to mention this idea before because it might sound mean. But, there are some out there that believe that his problem at QB didn't have much to do with throwing ability. It was more that he wasn't learning the system well enough to be QB. In hindsight, he did frequently seem rushed or panicked when taking snaps, calling plays, etc.

I hope he does well at KSU. Glad to hear that he's comfortable and getting a shot at what he wants to do.

Even if we had kept him at QB, he probably would have been behind Masoli, Costa and Thomas anyway. It wasn't meant to be for Harper to play qb at Oregon.

That may be. But, he could have been used for some situations and plays there. And he might have made the decision to switch positions eventually on his own and not felt like he got a raw deal.

I don't think Harper would have settled for that. It's obvious that he is all about himself and wants to be the center of attention. The coaches could have told him that he would battle for the starting qb job this fall and that still wouldn't have been good enough for Harper. We don't need players like him on the team.

I don't know. Maybe he was like that. I haven't personally seen or heard enough to conclude that.

Maybe being told that they were going to give him another shot at QB would have been good enough. If he was recruited to be a QB, I think he has a legitimate contention here that he wasn't getting to do what he thought was going to after a relatively short trial period during his freshman year.

He's apparently saying he's just now learning how to throw with his body. There's no way in hell Kelly was saying "Nah, throw only with your arm. It works fine." I think he might end up being a successful QB because of his legs. He will probably do just enough passing to get by, and rush for 100 yards a game. But only time will tell.

honestly, I don't think he'll ever become the quarterback he wants to be. He obviously has the determination, but that only gets you so far. He obviously doesn't have the vision or awareness that it takes to be a QB at a D-1 school...no matter how bad KSU is. Idk, I hope the best for him, but I don't think he'll ever be the player he wants to be.

KSU has nowhere near the talent the Ducks have at QB, even with the limited depth and experience. With time he might end up being pretty good but with Darron Thomas, the Ducks didn't have the time to gamble on Harper.
