Re: Braxton Lane
Bummer, but not surprising. Add another scholarship to the total available for the next class.

I wonder what the dollar figures were? I would have loved him at Oregon, but I certainly understand the decision.

Re: Braxton Lane
Good luck to Braxton in baseball. It sucks to lose any players/recruits, but the positive is it opens up another scholarship in a class with fewer than usual scholarships.

Hope he got a big bonus, and if things don't work out, as happened with Dennis Dixon, I hope he remembers Ck's speed Dial number...

Re: Braxton Lane
When I first heard this I was pretty bummed but then I thought about it and realized that if he did come here, he'd probably only be here for 2 years and, although he is a great player, he probably isn't good enough to be an big impact player by his true sophomore year. So hopefully we can do something great with the scholarship this opens up.
The hardest hit by this news has got to be the baseball team though.

Just so you guy sknow, he can still play football for us if he wants. Similar to what Dixon did.

Re: Braxton Lane
True, but he would have to fulfill academic standards and miss out on at least half of the baseball season.
I think he signed the contract with the intent to play baseball for full seasons.
Dennis Dixon and others like Mewelde Moore that played minor league baseball while in college had to go back to school and fall camp therefore losing out on the second half of the season.

I believe Matt Smith also signed a baseball contract and then came back to Oregon to play football.

Re: Braxton Lane
Akili Smith also showed up at Oregon after a sojourn in the minors, IIRC... And now he is an un-paid QB coach at Grossmont College.
