I love being ranked so high by all of these people, but personally, I think Oregon has a lot of work to do to live up to those rankings. There are a lot of question marks right now.

I keep hearing about all these question marks the 2009 Ducks have... I think every team (with the exception of the UT/USC/UF/OU's of the world) has a lot of question marks right now. Dont these preseason "polls" take all that into consideration?!? I'd like to think so... With the turnover ever year and graduating classes unless you're one of the 5-6 major-player programs in the country every team will have questions. I just hope ours get answered quickly!

Even 'SC has questionmarks. Anyway, CK seems to think the Dline will be a stength this year. With Tukuafu and Rowe the end position is solid (back ups Turner and Clark are good as well). The offensive line, if healthy, should be very good. Remember, 4 of our projected starters next year had starts (not just snaps) last year. We have a solid core and some really good talent in the wings. CK is saying that it's time to reload. The names York, Charmichael, Cody & Weems are music to my ears (we've recruited well as of late and all got 4* by at least one, if not both, recruiting agencies). The fact is that Ward may be the dark horse of the group. Also, a handful of kids should be able to at least come in and compete at needed positions: Armstrong (285-300 pount DT/OG), Fox (295 pound OG), Benyard (323 pound OT), and JUCO Andrew Iupati (290 pound DT), and Wade Keliikipi (280 pound DT). My favorites for consideration of early playing time as true freshman are Benyard (behemoth) and Armstrong (fierce competitor that was a state champion heavyweight wrestler). Of course, Andrew Iupati, the JUCO DT, brings the most promise. It will be fun to watch summer workouts and fall camp to see how the lines develop. There are questions but lots of viable solutions.

I disagree. You may feel like we are ranked high, but when you start looking at some teams ranked around us, they also have some work to do to live up to their own hype.

What makes OK state, Penn State, Ole Miss, Cal, Boise State, Georgia Tech, etc., better than us? If you put us in a bowl game against any one of these teams, I like our chances.

Who do you think should be ranked in front of us, J/w?

Then you changed your tune from a few weeks ago. Someone said Oregon was ranked in the top 10, and you said you thought that was high. I don't know how the rankings should look right now, and I don't spend time looking over every other teams rosters. You must admit, finishing top 10 again will be a difficult task this season. Ask yourself this. Do you think the ducks will be better than last season?

Personally, these high preseason rankings serve two purposes:

1. If the Ducks have a successful season, they will be much higher ranked. And if they stumble early and pick it up, they still have a good shot at a good bowl.

2. I want the season to start...NOW!

Actually I said something pretty similar when sporting news gave out their rankings:

And finishing in the top 10 will be tough. But I'm pretty confident we'll have 9 or 10 regular season wins this season, which could ultimately land us into the top 10 by season end.

Oklahoma State lost Pettigrew from last year's team and that is really about it. All their talent comes back including their stud offensive linemen. If we were returning our linemen than I'd give us the nod.

I bet at least half of those top 10 teams play cupcake out of conference schedules once again. Ohio State is overrated every season. Where is Tennessee on the list? Anyway, well all know that all of these preseason predictions and rankings mean very little. I don't think you can get a feel as to how good/bad a team really is until at least 3 games into the season. I will take Oregon ranked as high as possible though, because it could put us in a better situation for a BCS game way down the road.
