Re: #6 Oregon @ Loyola Marymount (3 game series Fri-Sun)
not that anyone would (it's baseball, after all) but don't take this series light.
we'll see colin welmon in game one, who allowed 4 hits/0 runs in 6 innings against us last year (LMU won 7-2). he's a legit ace. he allowed 1 run in 7 innings last friday against utah valley. he'll be stingy. patrick mggrath had a lot of success last year. we didn't face him, looks like he came on later in the year. it doesn't look like they have a lot of fire power, but hey. neither do we. they're definitely built around their staff.
thorpe dominated LMU in game two last year, and irvin did the same in game three. we'll see how krook does this week. based on last week's results i would imagine gold will get the opportunity to start, but you never know.

Still kinda surprising that Spencer is getting the 3rd day nod.. I'd like to see someone else in there, even Gold instead.

based on the first weekend gold certainly had the better outing, but the coaches really liked the secondary stuff spencer developed over the offseason. I'm sure he'll get a few weeks to audition that against live competition.
and if he sucks, gold will just come in for long relief.

tolman plunked, bases juiced for kyle garlick. 1 out. a good whack here could put this out of reach.
