No kidding, would have been nice to know my young guys with good potential would all get worse and have their potential drop as well.pudgejeff wrote:Wish I'd have know that before filling my team with rookies who were 1st round picks in the 88 draft lol.Zyme wrote:It has to do with the pot of the later players being all over teh place. thats the problem with creation drafts, potentials tend to be scattered...normal drafts will be much more predictable

Even though they didn't improve as much as you'd like you still have a lot of players with good value.pudgejeff wrote:I don't see how that has any relevance?lukeyrid13 wrote:You could easily move all the assets you have to try and start winning at any time though.pudgejeff wrote:Wish I'd have know that before filling my team with rookies who were 1st round picks in the 88 draft lol.Zyme wrote:It has to do with the pot of the later players being all over teh place. Re: Preseason Results
Unless I'm mistaken with my evaluations I have 5 guys of value and 2 of them were signed in FA and one was my lottery pick this year. All the other rookies I filled my team with seem to have no value at all.lukeyrid13 wrote:Even though they didn't improve as much as you'd like you still have a lot of players with good value.pudgejeff wrote:I don't see how that has any relevance?lukeyrid13 wrote:You could easily move all the assets you have to try and start winning at any time though.pudgejeff wrote:Wish I'd have know that before filling my team with rookies who were 1st round picks in the 88 draft lol.Zyme wrote:It has to do with the pot of the later players being all over teh place. Re: Preseason Results
This. Plus I usually spend weeks on a league file and try to tweak everything to be as accurate as possible. I probably spent like a few hours on this file in total. So I take responsibility for that, but in 2 years, everything will be as it should and should be consistent.Brophdog88 wrote:thats the problem with creation drafts, potentials tend to be scattered...normal drafts will be much more predictable

I have no problem with the potentials and how players grow or decrease. If it was straight forward then someone could just pick A potential players and just ride them each year. Thats what I like about the sim, you do not know what player will grow or regress. Its a crap shoot as it is in real life.

Re: Preseason Results
The fun part is that potential letter is only a reflection of the players' true potential. It usually settles around year 3-4 but you could have a player with 100 shown pot (max A), and only 50 true potOregon Ownage wrote:I have no problem with the potentials and how players grow or decrease. My favorite result of the Pre-season:
Dino Radja PF 32 8 9 0 0 0 0 12 4 2 2 2 3 16
Charles Barkley PF 40 6 16 0 0 0 2 16 4 2 0 3 1 12
Dino going toe to toe with Sir Charles and holding him in check in a 29 point win.

Re: Preseason Results
Oh totally. I've seen players with ratings of C+ C+ C C+ C A and 100 potential, where I test simmed them 10 times, would end up B A- C+ A- C C. But then when it came to the actual sim, he ended up like B- B- C B+ C.Oregon Ownage wrote:I have no problem with the potentials and how players grow or decrease. Nothing's for certain, but at the same time, if you have a high level of skill beyond taking advantage of newer GMs, you can pretty consistently do well in sims.
So if you're good, you'll still win. But not everything goes by the book, just like real life.
