Nate Costa ready to go

Says he is 95% right now and will be ready to go when the season starts and is excited to start fall camp. He sounds really positive and sounds like a great team player!

I am glad he is ready to go. Question is... is his knee ready to go. I believe last year he said was ready to go too. I hope this time he can really play but not holding my breath.

If Nate is fooling around with playing DB in pickup drills, he is feeling very comfortable on the knee... You have to believe his surgeon is comfotable with it as well.

Man that kid gives a great interview. Hope to see him contributing on the field in some way this season, even if it isn't starting at QB.

Please stay healthy knee.
If something ever happens to Masoli, I'm pretty confident Costa will be able to run this team fine.

What was the deal with the question about the QB competition last fall...
Was Nate's awkwardness about Harper, Masoli, Thomas?

I think the interviewer meant to say 2 years ago, and Nate was confused... I think he was prompting him to say that he beat out Dixon before hurting his knee back then! I have heard that before. Whether or not it was just to push Dixon at the time or what I don't know, but I think that it was what the interviewer was trying to get at.

Re: Nate Costa ready to go
As far as 2007 goes, the only thing I remember was that Costa was listed as #3 on the depth chart before his injury (He supposedly showed that he was close to Dixon during preparations for the start of the season), but that coaches indicated he would have taken over when Dixon went down with little to no adverse efect on the team.
I don't recall any time where there was an indication that Costa was ahead of Dixon... It was always about trying to preserve his red-shirt so that Nate would be available to start when Dixon departed.
I think the question was more directed at the fact that at the time Costa won the starting job last season, there were Roper, Thomas, Kempt, the two transfers from BYU, and Chris Harper on the roster, as well as Nate.
Nate was basically saying the only real competition for being "The Man", last season, was Justin Roper... The rest were not a serious factor until the injury bug bit once again.
