If you think about it, we could have two third's starting at corner next year. WT3 and TJ3. Weird, but interesting.

I forgot him on my list too...Willie was a top notch guy when we recruited him and he will for sure compete for the CB spot!

Dang. While this hurts I don't think it will be as bad as we think. We have had great recruiting at the CB spot & a combination of Jackson III/Glasper/Gildon will be enough to fill his spot. Someone will step up, it's how it always works.

I didn't realize that he had 17 interceptions in 3 seasons. I think it's a pretty big loss if he does go.

I really think that this was a horrible decision to leave early, his stock really didn't go up much this year because of the pass defense.

He is definitely not ready IMO.

Stroughter ran some nice routes against him to get open, he couldn't stop Dez Bryant(and that's the type of talent he will face).

IMO, I think he is a 3rd or 4th rounder this year, if he had stayed I think he would've been a 2nd rounder.

Bad choice

I'll personally be rooting for Glasper, not that I have anything against any of the other corners, just that he came to UO very highly rated but had to grey shirt so he could get some grades taken care of and after all that he has been a very team first stand up guy. When he didn't beat out WTIII or Byrd he could have gotten mad but instead he has turned into a ST animal and has just 1 year left to make an impact as a starter. Thanks Byrd for the memories and good luck in the NFL.

Eh I don't know. Glasper has been around forever, so that's the plus. However, coaches gave TJIII the nod over the rest of the backups when WTIII was hurt. So it'll be interesting to see who starts.

WTIII and TJIII as our starting corners? The 3rds.

Byrd will be missed. One of the best CBs I've got to see at UO.

It sounds like we have some great talent behind him, so it shouldn't hurt too bad, but it's all young talent. I'm sure Byrd would've been a great mentor to these kids, but I don't think it'll be that big of a problem.

Well with or without Byrd, I think we can all agree that the pass defense cannot be any worse next season than it was this past season.

i'll bet he's 2nd round material already and the nfl scouts gave him that report. byrd's a talented player and we'll miss him (even though i'm confident with the depth behind him), but you can't blame the guy for leaving when the opportunity is there. sure he can come back to try and help his draft status, but thats a gamble in itself with the risk of injury. i got the impression he thought a lot about it since we didn't hear until the latest possible point.

i hated seeing snoop leave last year but that opened the door for blount. maybe byrd opens the door for another star...

Agreed but this is the nature of College Football...On that note I can't wait until one of our players break out of the pack and takes the Byrd's vacant CB spot! And it's not like we have freshmen backups like a few years ago, that was a disaster, the guys behind Byrd all have plenty of experience!

All I heard was that he just wasn't sure. He still has 3 days to pull out of the NFL, maybe he's just buying time if he wasn't COMPLETELY sure. I hope that's the case, and if it is, it's smart. Does anyone know if he's hired an agent or not?
