BSU vs. U of O

Post by DuxMan »

BSU stats from the 2008 season (defensively) - 15tds Total yards 294.5 Pass yards 189.6 Rush yards 104.9

Oregon's Offensive stats - tds 67 Total yards 478.2 pass 200.3 Rush 277.8

Not to mention its the first game of the year, so no injuries. We have a great looking D coming back, and a offense that can strike just as easy and fast as the 2007 Duck team. Our O-line is looking good even though we lost some big names, and same with our D-line.

Bsu is ranked 14th? I believe so. And the Ducks 12th.

This game is the highlight of the season leading up to, USC. If we win this game we can look at being 7-0 with USC the next week.

What are your thoughts on this?

GO DUCKS!!

I agree that 7-0 is entirely possible, but not due to winning a game the first week of September! Utah and Cal will pose serious challenges whether we win or lose in Boise. And what about UCLA? We haven't put up a single point in the Rose Bowl in 3 years! (meaningless, I know, but I couldn't resist). That won't be a roll-over road game.

Agreed Autzen. Implying that if the Ducks beat Boise State it is a near foregone conclusion they will be 7-0 heading into the game against USC is a great example of hubris at its finest.

In terms of the Boise State game being the highlight of the season leading up to USC, I don't really view that game as more of a highlight than the game against Cal. They are both highlight games against good, highly ranked opponents that beat the Ducks last season.

I'm just saying its a possibility. I don't want to make the College football gods mad at us again.

Cal will be a bigger game than BSU. Conference schedule's importance >>> OOC schedule's importance.

Very true. You can lose OOC and still be in the Rose Bowl hunt. Losing conference games knocks you on both.

Plus, I'm fairly confident that Cal is a much better team than BSU this year.

I agee that the Boise State game is a highlight of significance importance for us but only to get back for them beating us at Autzen.. but not in terms of the national spotlight. Boise State is a very good team and will be no cakewalk. That being said though I am more worried about the Cal game because is a conference game. The Utah game will be tough as well. I will find it hard to believe if make it to 4-0 the first month even though I know will predict a win each week leading up to and beyond the Cal game. Only reason I am predicting a win against Cal is.. the seniors.. will want to finally beat them and we have them at home. They have had our number last 3 years. I am hopeful and optimistic.. but am also realistic and would not surprise me.. if go 3-1.. or even 2-2 in September.

7-0 heading into USC is a possibility for sure but the games leading up to it are all tough well maybe not Wash St! Those poor bastards.

In terms of difficulty I'd say it goes CAL, BSU, Utah and UCLA (tied) followed by WASH, Purdue and Wash St, only a couple are gimme games and three of them (Utah, Wash and UCLA) are completely unpredictable games...I have no idea what to expect from these teams. And I'd have to agree with the fact that our conference games are most important but we still have to approach this as a week to week battle because we aren't good enough to look past anyone!

Damn I ready for some football!! I would love to be 7-0 heading into USC game...I can't wait to find out!

We have not had a season opener of this importance in a long time. Even though a loss doesn't knock us out of Rose Bowl contention a win puts us on the radar early and gets us rolling in the right direction to become 7-0.
