Masoli, and stick with him. He's got that "playmaker" factor. He just makes things happen. I don't see why people would consider Costa starting.

I voted Masoli because he's gonna start but I think Costa should be the starter but he can't win the job...Mas is gonna have to lose it and he's gonna have to lose it in a game, let's just hope we don't lose that game if he does end up losing it.

Re: Who gets the start boys
I can't believe this is even a discussion. Why would this be Costa's job after the performances Masoli turned in at the end of last season?
I absolutely think that Nate Costa is capable of running the offense effectively, but this is Masoli's job and Masoli's team. I think he's earned the trust and respect of his teammates and is without question the guy who has to lead this team.
This reminds me of the Dixon/Leaf situation from a couple years ago. Dixon was very clearly the right guy for the job, but the grass is always greener on the other side, so there was a sizable contingent of Leaf supporters that wanted to see a change at the position.
I like Nate Costa, and at one point I thought that he was the guy that would lead our Ducks to a Pac-10 title or even a national championship, but that has changed. Before you cast your vote and weigh in on this, pop in your DVD of the Holiday Bowl or the Civil War, and then try to make a genuine case against Masoli. I'm not trying to be combative or inconsiderate, but I'm truly shocked that there are people out there who seriously want a quarterback change a week and a half before the season opener.
I've been reading all the practice reports and blogs, and I understand that Costa has looked great, but you don't take the ball out of the hands of the player that delivered a top 10 ranking at the end of last season. To suggest otherwise seems foolish.

Well said.
In my view, you always play the QB who last did well in a game. You only decide between two QBs based on practice performance when you're replacing a QB.
I like Costa and wouldn't mind seeing what he can do. But, until Masoli falters in one or more games, he has earned the spot and deserves support from everyone, imo.

Re: Who gets the start boys
Masoli!!!!! Come on guys. Costa hasn't played in a real game since his freshmen year. Why in the hell would you wanna make Costa the starter over a guy who finished with arguably, the best sophomore season of any QB in school history? It is great to see Costa showing he is capable of taking over barring an injury, but lets not have a knee jerk reaction to his recent success. Remember, the majority of his snaps have come against the second string Defense.

This is a ridiculous thread. This is almost like asking if Tim Tebow should start.

HAHA. Yeah, for that matter, why did we start Joey after his sun bowl win? It was obviously time for a change. lolduckgrad99 wrote:This is a ridiculous thread. This is almost like asking if Tim Tebow should start.

Re: Who gets the start boys
There is no reasonable reason to take the starting job away from Masoli at this point.
