Oregon gets swept after losing 13-4 today. They are not good in any facets right now. Pitching is very weak this season and they're just not hitting like Horton thought they could. I'd say they're going to be hard-pressed to make the NCAA Tournament this season.

Not looking good this year.
Pitching is weak. Hitting is weak too. We can say they outhit a lot of teams but it does not matter if those hits don't bring people in for runs. They also do not tell the story if the hits come when there are 2 outs or game is well over.

What the hell happened?

caught with our pants down in the pitching department, unfortunately. we don't have a friday guy, so we're starting every series in a hole. peterson has been good, but once karraker got hurt we started stretching a mediocre staff to it's limits. irvin has been downright awful in two of his three conference starts, which hurts exponentially more. and the bullpen is pretty terrible.

clutch hitting has been our Achilles heel offensively. i think we had 33 hits last weekend, but never did much in the run department because nobody can get a hit with RISP. hard to say why. things like this tend to come in waves, and effects the entire team. if we ever break through this lineup shows great potential, but that's all it is right now. the coaches boasting that this was our best lineup to date were greatly mistaken.

and finally, we aren't a fundamentally sound team. the defense blows. we're making the most ridiculous mistakes, and we're making them repeatedly. just this moment, shaun chase -- a freaking senior -- took a bunt and threw the ball into centerfield, trying to nail a runner going into 2B he had no chance of getting. the easy out at first? nope, error on us, run scored. we balked in THREE runs against asu. the bad defense really seems to effect our pen, who aren't talented enough to do much more than pitch to contact.

basically, a perfect storm of awful baseball. sadly, the pac is so strong, it's tough to see much relief going forward. every week is brutal.

I bet those mlb teams must be glad they didn't draft Chase. He's been terrible.
If you look around, they are also happy to no draft Cole Irvin. They worried about his arm getting injured soon and it happened. Very sad story. He's been preaching about taking the team to Omaha all year before the season started.
