Let me start by saying that I think LGB is done here, and rightfully so.

However, that kid from Boise was taught a lesson and was clearly antagonizing the whole thing (still need to maintain composure, but others have culpability in this as well). Rob's reporting that Blount said he was pushed by the player and hit by a fan? From the program's standpoint, the silver lining is that the rest of the team didn't go all UFC. My point is don't let Blount become an indictment of the entire team's character.

The look on Embry when Blount snapped at him said it all. As a big time athlete he knows he has to ignore all of that crap. Embarrassing to say the least.

I have no idea what to do with Blount but I wouldn't kick him off the team.

Been thinking about this a bit: what's FAIR to Blount and to the team is most important. Not image, not recruiting. But fair. I understand him getting out of a hand and hitting a guy. Bad choice, but understandable. What happened after that is a little harder to sympathize with, no doubt.

Certainly he needs to be suspended for a few weeks. I think he should definitely be forced into some anger-management therapy or something. But give him the chance to earn his way back on the team. After a number of weeks, let his team mates be the judge, let them vote on it.

Bottom line: a coach should care about his players beyond their performance; this kid needs some help, and maybe kicking him off the team isn't the right thing for him, or for the team. If it is, fine. But image should not be the issue here. The issue is doing the right thing. No reason to be hasty.

I imagine we will get a better idea of everything that happened in the next few days. He should definitely be suspended. Beyond that, I really don't know right now.
