The Oline was awful, but Masoli had 2 turnovers that were his fault and could have changed the outcome of the game. He also had several passes that were thrown into the ground or way over receivers heads. It was like deja vu for the first several games he played last season. I'm not ready to start Costa against Purdue, but Masoli didn't play well at all. Toledo's qb threw for like 470 yards against Purdue this week. If Masoli cannot put up good stats against Purdue, it's going to be a long season.
Wrong. The interception came on a pass that was intended for Maehl but Masoli was blindsided as the ball was leaving his hand. Not his fault, it was the O line's. The fumble was his fault but it had little affect on the game. Boise fumbled it & we got the ball right back.

Nice try though.

Kelly said he never considered putting Costa in. I wonder if Masoli continues to struggle whether he sticks with him or decides to give Costa an opportunity. If Kelly sticks with Masoli and he continues to stink it up and the Ducks lose then in my opinion Kelly is not the guy to be the Ducks head coach. It will be interesting to see how this season unfolds.

I gotta say I'd much rather be discussing a possible QB controversy than the crap we have been discussing.

The pressure on the line could have been relieved by an effective short passing game. Masoli can do that, but he didn't. I would have put Costa in for a couple of those series in the second quarter since the game was close, but not going well, and it can always be explained as giving some sideline perspective and coaching up to JM while seeing if Costa could shake things up while getting some live reps.

If Costa wasn't ready to go, he shouldn't have made the trip.

A little early to be judging Kelly. Maybe B.State was better than we thought and we are still green on the line.

Boise State is better than we thought and we are green on the o-line, but maybe Oregon is not as good as we all thought!

I agree though it is too early for "fire Kelly" talk I am just saying if Masoli doesn't get his crap together, how long before we see Costa?

The problem is, if the o line plays like sh*t again and continues to we are in for a long season folks.. THe offense crumbles without a decent o line. We could be 0-4 going into october because of the O line. The D and special teams looked fine to me but the inexperienced o line could single handedly sink this season.

Just dumb reply after dumb reply.... Costa is a good player, so is Masoli, the coaches know more specifics than anyone of us. STFU, watch and see, I like Costa, perhaps he will get a shot, and have a legit knee to use while trying....

Masoli was slow in making decisions and didn't look off his receiver (Maehl). When the o-line is having a hard time blocking then you need a QB than can make quick decisions and accurately get rid of the ball. I don't know if Costa will be able to do that or if Masoli will be able to adjust so maybe this ends up being a long terrible season for the Ducks. The D isn't going to win us any games, they looked about they way they usually do in the passing game it's just the Boise State ran a lot more than probably anyone expected and threw less that's why it seems the D did good. Boise State should have scored a lot more points but they had a lot of mistakes. Oregon did worse in the running game than they usually do, they gave up almost 170 rushing yards and over 350 total yards.

To clarify my earlier post. I don't know if Costa is better than Masoli. The comment was made that he was. I don't think it matters what Masoli did last year. If Costa is the better QB now he should play, period. After all, he has put a lot of time in the system and deserves the chance. If not for injuries he would definitely be our starting QB now. My concern is those injuries and the possibility of it happening again.

Without a doubt BSU is better than expected. Well coached, disciplined, swarmed to the ball on defense, and, strangely, seem to be a bit quicker than we were. That's why I agree with those who say we should have seen more of LMJ. BSU, Utah, and BYU are mid majors that are to be reckoned with.

We were #16 and lost to #14. OU was #3 and lost to #20 BYU. I know most of the experts say it was all due to Bradford's injury. That's garbage. One announcer had it right. The game was 7-7 when Bradford was injured and Hall was looking just as good as Bradford. And BYU had a host of injuries, including #1 Fullback. Think BSU and BYU were zeroed in on those games against BCS teams.

And I agree with those who say,"SEASONS NOT OVER YET" WE WILL DEFINITELY GO TO A BOWL. May not be the Holiday or even Sun.

To be fair, the Toledo QB passed for 423 yards on 67 pass attempts. But I certainly agree, Masoli needs to perform better. I think he will.
