Section 21 sucks, everyone was sitting while all the other sections were standing. I wouldn't sit put the people behind me started getting mad and I've already been asked by security to sit in previous games so I didn't want any trouble and sat.. Takes the fun out of the game if you ask me.
You've been asked to sit by security? I always wondered about that... I guess I have to sit if people ask.
Yes, apparently some people in the back were made because we never sat for the entire first half lol.
I don't understand it, why go to the game if you don't want to get up and get excited? Isn't this why TV was invented? So you could sit and watch the game.

I believe it was more like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Our section was really quiet considering the game was always close enough to make every defense stop pretty important. It started off loud and ended the game very loud but you can tell that our offenses struggle to move the ball takes the energy from the fans. I do think the crowd noise on Thurmans pick 6 played a major role since the receiver didn't hear their quarterback audible to him and forced their qb to walk half way over to him for directions. Amazingly enough the qb never looked off of him from the time the ball was snapped either, their qb seemed to give the play away pre-snap quite a few times though. All in all from my 16 years of hitting all home games I give it a c-.
stewbertwilloughby wrote:Yeah section 28 sucks as well. It was so weird because everyone was standing for the kickoff, then when Purdue's offense trotted onto the field, literally everyone sat down simultaneously except for myself, my friend, and a couple guys a few rows down from us. I was literally shocked and confused. It was kinda pathetic. The reason for going to the games is to be a part of the game. The people who go to just sit and watch need to watch at home, it would be a thousand times better for them. I understand the people asking for others to sit when we are on offense, but defense is a different story. I had an old lady ask me to sit down once when we were on defense and I turned around, looked her in the eye and straight up told her "NO" . She was mad.
Next year they should have ticketholders fill out a form to whether they prefer standing or sitting.. Give the sitters a few sections, so the rest of us don't have to suffer.
Hey at least the person who was asking you to sit was an elderly lady. The people behind me were in their 30s or 40s.
The crowd noise was pretty average. I was in section 21 & about a 1/4 of the people were too busy booing & screaming at Masoli/Chip to actually chear on the team. If i was a big guy(I'm 5'10 130) that could put up a good fight I would've fought all these dudes It still took all I had to not call 'em out. Complete idiots.
And of course we had the old couple behind us tellling us to sit down all game. They left at half time & never came back. Waste of tickets. Coulda had some real fans in the stands instead.
I think there are right times to sit and right times to stand. I always try to get people around me up at important times and would love to stand up the whole game if everyone else around me would. Some sections are more fun than others that I've sat in. But I usually just follow the chain reaction that usually starts at the front rows wherever I sit and just go with the crowd flow. I'll sit if everyone around me is sitting though. Good time to hit the flask.
For the Purdue game, I had this tall kid in front of me holding his hands above his head in an O for basically every play and would rock back and forth like he was slow dancing with himself. There was a lot plays I couldn't see because he was in my way even when I was standing up. I didn't say anything because I liked his spirit but I'll be glad if he's not back next week.
I've even had old ladies in sec. 34 row 30 tug at my shirt and tell me to sit down, when people in front of me were standing up. I never did though.
Sec 9 blows. People stand the whole god damn game and are drunk and beligerant. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan i stand when the d is on the field but while we are on Offense? There is no need to stand up. and people who stand during timeouts and talk about how cool their I phone is and not pay attention, or drunk fans who are so gone they should just stay home and watch the game on tv. Bottom line is i have no problem with standing, what i don't like is people standing the whole god damn game tho thats pathetic.

Agreed.
The student section stood the whole time, and we had a lot of fun.... the section right next to us was WEAK. At one point I was literally yelling at them to stand up during a big defensive play, and all they did was stare back. They would stand up during kickoffs, but sit right down as soon as our D came onto the field. Ridiculous.

Which side? Section 4 or Section 9?!? Cuz if it was section 4 those people arent normally there during the school year, and maybe they could be considered "newbies"?!? The AD sells those seats to the general public (no season tickets, no students) for the games before the students start classes...
Just a thought... IMHO once school is back in session the crowd should get a little bit better...

I don't see what makes standing the whole game pathetic. Why is having energy and enthusiasm for the game a bad thing? I prefer to stand the whole, because I'm too jacked up for the game to sit down. Personally I feel that when people are sitting there is a complete lack of energy in that area. That's why I still kind of prefer the student section even though I graduated 2 years ago. Yes, the belligerent drunks (though I admit during my time in school I was piss drunk a few times myself, though not to the level of some of the kids I see there) and the frequent aroma of weed is a bit annoying, but the atmosphere and energy there is great. I'm not into the whole polite applause for a great play on offense or any of that nonsense. I want to be in a section where people are going crazy and are really into the game. That's what makes college football and its atmosphere so special to me as opposed to the NFL. Fans take it to a whole new level.
I think a big issue is that a lot of the former GA tickets were opted into being Child/Senior tickets... meaning you get exactly that. Me and my girlfriend were smack dab in the middle of Section 21, and as a former GA holder I used to stand all game every game, and it was the norm... now I've got 6 older people behind me that are obviously sitting most of the game, so I don't want to be disrespectful and stand the entire game in front of them.
A big part of the GA re-order was that it took the tenacity out of that entire crowd... You were in the lower levels because you got there earlier and everybody was excited for the game. Now it's just your ticket like anywhere else.
Hell, I had a woman and her husband who were seated next to me, come into the game late, leave at halftime, and never comeback, yet she was sooooo opinionated on what we should do and how Masoli was playing. To me, it's like, why even buy a ticket? Hell, I'm at my seat an hour before the game starts just so I can watch the warm-ups, take in the atmosphere. And GA was the epitome of that type of fan.
Now it's just people who were cheapskates on their ticket. Period.
