Masoli looked bad, at times he looked lost. But I have to believe that at some point the light bulb will turn on and he will start playing much, much better. It seems clear to me that Kelly has tweaked our offensive scheme and Masoli is still trying to wrap his head around it.

If you think a 25% completion rate is anything other than terrible, you have a lot to learn about football.

     Jeeze everyone needs to calm down... This program is going through a huge transition if you haven't noticed, New Coach, AD, UofO President, D-Line Coach, WR Coach, QB Coach/O Cordinator. I believe in this Duck program and believe that chip kelly, nick allotti, mike bellotti(AD) will do what it takes to steer this ship in the right direction... I also believe Masoli will figure himself out as well, yes I admit Masoli hasnt looked great this season but do you all honestly think we would have those two wins without him??? No chance... We have seen what he can do and is capable of and I trust he will work hard to figure out his path back to glory... GO DUCKS

A 2-1 start to a pretty solid OOC schedule is pretty good in my eyes. Masoli was great at the end of last season, so as long as we are winning, there is no need to bench him. I hope the offense can get out of there funk just to silence the negative nancys.

This is just like last year's "Take Roper out" threads.

Spartan brings up a really good point too. This is a program in transition. We have a lot of new coaching faces on the sidelines and in the booth, you have to expect some growing pains. And im not buying Chip Kelly taking the blame for the play calling after the Boise game. I saw a play calling sheet in his hands against Utah. I didnt once see one in his hands in the first two games.

If this team can get some offensive momentum going in the Cal game I think we have a good chance of winning. I think Cal is kind of a one trick pony relying heavily on Best. I really wish we had some cup cakes to work out the kinks in our offense before this Cal game. This years defense really reminds me of the 2007 defense.

Cost had the better practices he had the better spring game why not throw him in there? Masoli looks like crap we have no passing game with him in there.

Everybody loves the backup quarterback because in their eyes they have not made any mistakes. Lets take a look over the long haul going back to last year with Masoli as our starter.. He has started like 9 games and mind ya this is his first full year of starting to go with all the changes and an incosistent offense line. If look back over his 9 games he does very well when the conditions are dry. He doesnt fare so well when game conditions are wet. Yes that is something he needs to work on.. but he is like 7-2 or 6-3 not to shabby for a guy that was thrown into the starting position. He has been booed.. and yet.. he keeps playing keeps winning. I will back Masoli. Yes the struggles are hard to take but they are part of football. Nobody wins 100% of the games especially the our O line.. and all the changes. I agree with Spartan. This talking crap about him should stop. Maybe when he has a great game we should all come back and ask those talking crap about how their crow taste.. I am backing Masoli even when he struggles 150%.

New UO President? And exactly how does that affect our football team's performance on the field? We probably have a new secretary, a few new professors and a brand new custodian who just graduated from OSU. Oh my god, how will our team deal with all the changes?

Masoli needs to play better. Everyone else on the team has improved over the past three games - including the o-line. It is time for him to do it as well. It's not like he hasn't played well in the past or hasn't had time to learn our system. I'm just not sure why everyone is still making excuses for his play when most of it has nothing to do with anyone but himself.

In regards to winning without him, I believe Costa would have lead us to our two wins as well - with fewer mistakes to boot. I'm not giving up on Masoli yet, but he needs to perform or Costa should be given a chance. Costa would likely play better (providing his knee holds up) and it might benefit Masoli to watch from the sideline a while. He needs something to help him get his head back on straight. Maybe something will click for him soon, but with california coming up, we can't afford to keep Masoli in if he is not playing better.

3 games is long enough...time to pull the plug on Masoli.

Terrible mechanics.

Locks on to one receiver.

Can't hold onto the football.

Can't handle snaps.

Jason Fife just called...and even HE thinks Masoli sucks.
Get out, fast.

I am completely on the Darron Thomas wagon, and have been since I saw him against BSU last year. I was pissed we used him for oe quarter and never played him again. It really wasn't until the last drive of the Stanford game that Masoli finallyshowed me something and I admit I was very down on him but he proved me wrong.
Since I was wrong once, I gave Masoli extra time to prove him self this game, but after 12 LOUSY quarters of football, I am starting to lose the faith in him that he will turn the corner. He has had all summer to adjust to the offense an better himself throwing the football and he looks God awful back there.
I do not like singling payers out for losses, but if we would have lost last night, it would have been 125% his fault. The fumbled snap led to 3 points and he ha 3 chances to fall on it, the fumble on the run where he didn't carry the ball close enough to his body cost us another 7 points, and his dumbass throw into the endzone which got picked off cost the team at least 3, maybe 7.
Its one thing to not throw the ball well, but he isn't even coming close to making the right reads on the zone option.
I don't know if its the hair or not, but he is terrible at the moment and we are in a world of hurt if he doesn't get his act together for the Pac-10. I will still root for the guy, but I want Thomas in there....Masoli has had more then plenty of opportunities to prove himself worthy of starting.

Masoli really seems to struggle when weather is a factor and the ball is wet. Does he have small hands and a hard time throwing a wet ball? I know it seems silly living in Eugene Oregon, but the rain always seems to take away our speed and tempo to some degree.

stewbertwilloughby wrote:I think the worst thing Masoli does is carry the ball with one hand. And I don't mean tucked, I mean one hand. People, this team is getting better. The way most people are talking it's like we just lost. I want to know why I only seen Drew Davis and Tyreece Gaines only a handful of times. I think we need more dragging routes over the middle while Masoli rolls out. He just can't throw most of his passes from the pocket. I also think we need some RB screens and middle screens to Dickson.
AGREED! We do not have enough underneath routes. The only short routes that we run are curls on the sidelines. Maybe Chip is saving his quality plays for PAC10 play. I sure hope so.
