You can't sign Cole

4) Players cannot be cut and resigned in the trade process. Any player cut in a trade will be placed on waivers. After 48 hours anyone can sign him.

It's been more than 48 hrs on Cole with the only claim coming from the Nets who already have 15 players.

Am I able to sign Cole now?

lol if you wanna be anal about it, then sure I'll cut Jalen Coleman-Lands. But I'll leave it up to ownage to intrepret whether that rule is at the time of posting or both parties accepting.

I think precedence was set last trade deadline when a trade was not confirmed prior to the deadline and it got nixed. Trade isn't official until confirmed.

This is a hotly contested battle for a backup PG  I feel like I'm definitely the underdog going up against the former commissioner but we shall see.

Hey, we both want to win. And I'm all for upholding integrity, even if that doesn't play in my favor. So if I have to cut someone even for semantics, so be it.

So here is how I see it:

Bucks claimed Cole but couldnt due to trade involving Cole

Nets claim pending trades

Trades dont get processed due to teams not agreeing in time for sim

So we have two teams claiming a player so we refer to the waiver rule:

Waivers: Applies to all cut players, buy outs or players lost to Hard Cap penalties. Any player cut in the trade process goes to waivers. Any player lost to Hard Cap penalties will take his existing contract with him. The claiming team with the worst record will get the player. During the first 30 days of the season, the previous years records will be used to determine who gets the waived player. Teams have 24 hours to claim a bought out player. Team with worst record gets the claimed player. If no one has claimed the player after 24 hours, than anyone can sign him.

By this definition, Nets are awarded the player as they have the worse record.

I understand where you're going with this, but I'm not sure it really applies to this situation.

I was unable to sign him due to the 48 hr rule. TK was able to claim him but chose to wait until his trades were processed rather than dropping someone. His claim shouldn't come into play until he had the roster space to actually sign him.

Once my 48 hour probation period ended, TK's trade still had not been confirmed. After 48 hours I should be first in line given the nets/Knicks trade was confirmed about an hour later.

At the end of the day it's not that big of a deal, but I'll respectfully disagree with your ruling.

I feel this is such a unique situation and in the end we are dealing with a player is who is wanted by two teams so I just put it to the waiver rule.
