For the first overall pick this is not a great start. He was touted as the cant miss next big thing at the 4 spot and he really did not make a lot of noise in camp. He made some strides in his footwork on the glass, but he also looks to have taken a step back in his ceiling. While he showed progress, this is quite concerning overall.

The second pick looks to have made a very strong argument to be the top overall selection. The G/F Barrett looks to be a tailor-made tall guard in the league and made steady progress in his first overall camp. Very good work from Barrett.

Here is who I think really solidified the true top pick in the early going. While any of the top pick could have made an argument for, with his Blocking and top end talent. Baby Bol, as I will now refer to him for his entire career, looks to be the breakout star. The early strides he made in his footwork and even in his already impressive defensive arsenal makes this an awesome pickup for the Cavs. Hard to call the #3 a steal, but defiantly the best pickup in the top 3.

Slow progression from the fourth overall pick. Solid, but nothing spectacular to report here. He made some progression in his inside attack but a lot of stability in other parts of his game. Hopefully this just means he is a late bloomer but you might have liked to see more progression from either his outside or defensive game to show true top end progress.

One of the better snipers in the class made some very solid strides. He upped his stroke and his handling ability. Even if he never gets his defense to the point where he can be a true starter, he looks like a very solid rotation option right now and, with his stead progression over multiple categories, looks to have a very good career in front of him.

You take the good with the bad here. He got his defense up to the point where you could argue he could be an immediate contributor in back of a F/C rotation, but without continued progression on defense you will may never see him starting save for a bottom end team. The apparent loss of potential doesn't help his cause either.

How do you bet against a name with such premade jokes. Simisola Shittu looks like the biggest pickup in the lottery with outstanding gains in inside, defense, and (most importantly) rebounding. This kid looks like a huuuuuge pickup for the Heat and an immediate impact starter given the lack of quality in the Heat's overall F/C depth. Outstanding pickup in the mid lottery.

First true bust of the draft. Really big mixed back, mostly on the bad side. Peters made solid strides in his outside shot, but backslid everywhere else. Losing apparent top end potential, inside, and his rebounding this prospect may be picking up game cheques and not much else. He better turn things around quick or he may only be getting his rookie contract and not much else beyond.

He lost handling, and then went up pretty much everywhere else. Excellent progression from the newly-minted Wolf. He looks like he may make an impact in a lot of 4/5 rotations already and given the all but entirely empty Timberwolves roster he will be seeing a ton of time. The race for the top C rookie honors between Obiagu and Baby Bol will be one to watch.

Slow but steady progression for the later lottery Point Guard. Noting impressive, but with the glut of guards in the league right now, for the sake of the health of the league it is probably for the best. Not an impact player by any means but solid in any case. Going to take a few years to see this case bear out.

Solid progression out of Walker. A gain in his outside shot is a solid sign and if he can keep even this state he will be in a rotation for many years to come. Hopefully the loss of apparent top end potential is just an ephemeral loss. Here might be another example of the Knicks making the wrong pick given who came after but there were holes at multiple positions so the thought process was to take the more ready-now positions.
