Bill Musgrave and Derek Loville were recruited to Oregon with the promise that Autzen would have a dome
Well back in those days Oregon didn't have the kinda money they do now to keep those promises

I agree, a dome would suck. The pic on the "thousand words" thread would be the best way to expand Autzen. I mirror image of the canopy would keep the weather off a little bit, add more seats, and increase the noise by holding in extra decibels. If they do something like this, I hope they look around for the best possible ways to keep sound from escaping. Autzen would be the noisiest stadium in college football, unarguably. With Phil getting up there in years, ya never know.

There you go. And adding another 12k would probably put us around probably like 67-68k. Expanding the north side would eliminate the standing room.

Oh ya, and pics by Mikfot.

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but which side is the North side?

The north side is the old side, so the south side is the new side. Autzen is one of only a few stadiums that has an east-west field configuration.

thanks for the pictures that looks really sick. i would hate a dome as well, playing in the cold and rain gives us the advantage in the later half of the season because you cant prepare for it in sunny so-cal or arizona. By the way minnesota has a new domeless stadium that will be ready next season i believe, imagine playing there in november at -20 or something absolutely brutal imo.

A dome would be incredibly lame. It's funny there's several on this site that never saw Autzen pre-expansion, meanwhile I haven't been to a home game since I moved to the South in '99

The outdoor stadium in Minnesota is being built for the Twins who have been sharing the metrodome with the Vikings. After next year, the Vikings get the dome to themselves and the Twins get a brandnew ballpark for themselves.

What idiot came up with the idea of building a dome-less stadium for a baseball team in Minnesota? Honestly, MLB should make retractable roofs mandatory for new stadiums.

He was referring to the new stadium for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, TCF Bank Stadium

I really hope they try o build up the endzones and make the stadium at least 70k. Besides the cost, is there really a reason to not go with at least 70k?

If I recall the old stadium had 43-45k and currently we are at 57-58k...so the completed North side would add to the total of 70-72k!

But per Rob Moseley it probably won't happen...but it would be sweet!
